lanny "Sports at 11: Take 2" set to debut

The teaser popped up on my Facebook feed...
GRANT POLLOCK, Toth and Lownsbrough apparently getting the band back together.. on YouTube apparently.

Lownsbrough tried his luck with "Outlaw Sports" (which is also being rebooted?)

Like to see what happens now. How much old footage do they have? Will they be doing skits? A bunch of old guys on Zoom? Guess we'll see.

Ron Manz was always the somewhat befuddled (but in on the joke) straight man.

I believe it was a Halloween episode, but I remember Lownsborough (sp) dressed up like Ed Whalen and Toth was the Honky Tonk Man. One of the funniest bits i have seen on all of televison

Outlaw Sports is awful. So was Tomorrow Today. I expect this will be the same.

On one level, I admire Lownsbrough's efforts to still eke out a livelihood in broadcasting in this city. But watching him now is like watching a 50 year old former jock hitting on waitresses. It's embarrassing. But 50 year old former jocks who hit on waitresses seem to be his target audience these days, so I guess that makes sense.

I grew up in Winnipeg, so I never got to watch this show, but it reminds me of a higher budget version of The 2 Sports Guys that were on public access tv in Winnipeg in the mid to late 80's.

I quite enjoyed that era of sports media where it seemed like they could go and have fun while talking about sports.

I watched Sports @ 11 throughout my teens. I loved it. I was completely taken aback when some gentleman in his 50s mentioned how much he hated the show. I was like... "How?...."

Now I can understand why since I'm getting up there now but I refuse to follow that mindset. Excuse me, I gotta go kick some kids off my lawn.

Ron Manz is the Man! The only thing i remember from him was he took one of the first bungee jumps in the city.

I think it was at the BMO centre. The rope was too long and they had this pool to help break the fall. He missed it and smashed his face into the floor! haha

haha i found it. I guess he only hit his head on the side of the pool.. He was definitely cut and bleeding though they didn't show it in this clip.

I seriously hated both of em....complete and total assclowns.

By today's standards if you were to compare them to Peter
Lobardias, Ryan Leslie and company....ummm....what a joke.

They crucified Terry Crisp before and even after winning the cup....and they were weird about Badger Bob...who in my opinion was the best coach the Flames EVER had.

Their Shtick was old and bothersome and they DIDNT have a clue what they were talking about .

No sentimentivalaity value at all. ....yep.....thread killer again.

Nope you are right on... its just sentimental that people are missing them, not because of how great they were or talented, look what they have accomplished after that show, the youtube show will be a huge failure. 100 %

Was hesitant to wade into this thread but you are on the mark with Lownsbrough. IRL the guy was an absolute jerk.

Lowsbrough was amazing in his day.

I agree he wouldn’t last a minute in today’s left wing cancel culture, cry babies.

But everyone who stayed up and watched, laughed for a reason back then.

Easy to judge the work 30 years later as poor and distasteful.

The circumstances surrounding Mike's dismissal go much further than political correctness. But, my understanding is only based on hearsay.

Sports reporters don't have anywhere near the kind of colour these days that those guys did. They had so much fun and made it fun for the viewer.

I'm looking forward to their show.
