Default QOTD: When will the Tkachuk contract get done?

Pretty simple ... when is it signed and the player back in the fold?

I voted Before Camp. No inside info, just hoping this doesn't drag into camp or beyond.

Voted Before Camp

After some additional thought, I'm hopeful that yesterday's comments from Tkachuk's agency were to put the ball back into Treliving's court, and done so because Tkachuk doesn't want to miss any time.

The elite RFA's are going to get together and rent arenas around the world and go around putting on exhibitions.

Might not make the full 100 M they wanted from the NHL but something is better than nothing.

Marner, Rantanen, Laine, Point, Boeser, Tkachuk, Connor, Konecny

McAvoy,Porororov, Werenski, Deangelo, Carlo

Gardiner and Brassard will ask to join them but they back away because they were asked to front the money to organize the tour.

The Leafs will ask the league to void Nylander's holdout contract as it was filed so close to the deadline last season that the fax machine had some words that were illegible and Dumbas signature is in dispute so Nylander can join up the dissidents.

There are no RFA goalies so their agents will take turns strapping on the gear.

I'm hopeful it gets done before camp, but I voted for during camp.

I think if one of Marner/Point sign, many of the other contracts will follow suit.

I am guessing that the Flames and Tkachuck already have a contract in place, but it can't be signed yet because Tre is working to trade away someone to clear enough cap space.

I will say 7 x $8.5-ish and it will be announced a few days before training camp starts.

My guess is just before camp, especially if it is a bridge.

Should have added the option of "after Marner signs". According to the athletic these agents are all holding on for the dominos to fall and likely want to see the largest first to set the scale. They very likely will all get done before the season starts and it's a matter of the first one getting signed.

During camp. What’s going on in the NHL is sad right now. Every year it’s worse. Too many average players got paid huge as UFA or RFA. And now no one likes where the market is.

He drew a line in the sand. Tre is calling his bluff. This won’t get done until the season is about to start.

I believe they are waiting on Marner. I also believe that Dubas will try and tough it out as long as he can. I went with before the December deadline. And every one of the RFAs that do hold out will have crappy seasons.

Too many unsigned RFA's at this point. I think maybe everyone is waiting for one of them (Marner or Pointe) to sign and set the bar, then the rest will sign shortly thereafter.

Unfortunately I don't see this happening right away. Like Nylander last year the players are going to wait until they get what they want. And the longer it goes the more the pressure is on the GM's to get them signed.

This is why I said a month into the season, although I'm hoping it happens before camp so Tkachuk doesn't miss any time. I don't see it happening though - they've had plenty of time to get it done up to this point and we still aren't there.

Just my thoughts but I feel like Tkachuk is a team player and won’t want to miss games. A holdout would suck though, and it could very well happen.

CapFriendly shows Flames with $7.75 million of cap space with 20 players signed. So still need to add Tkachuk, Mangiapane and a 7th defenseman (who may already be in the system).

I think there's a chance they're close on Tkachuk and Mangiapane but Treliving doesn't want to back himself into a corner and be over the cap for all the world to see, which won't help his leverage in any trade situation. Not that it's a big secret now in any case

So I think we see a trade first, before any more signings. And that may be right around start of training camp.
