Is Brooks Orpik this generation's Kevin Lowe?

Congrats Iggy - so well deserved! You had an illustrious career. I can remember your 6 storey banner hanging off the side of a building on 5th Ave which said everything about how much you meant to the City of Calgary!

Congrats to Iggy on getting in, this tweet captures what his tenor in Calgary was like.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1275822445023293441

Iggy was a one man show that got absolutely no help, every night teams knew stop Iginla and you win the game. He faced every top checking line and top pairing defenceman every game. If only we had some offensive help for him, he probably would have put up even better numbers. Below are the top 6 players who played for the Flames during Iginla's time with the Flames interms of points...

1) Iginla - 1095
2) Conroy - 308
3) Langkow - 288
4) Tanguary - 284
5) Phaneuf 228
6) Fleury - 214

Also if Kevin Lowe got into the Hall, then Gary Suter absolutely deserves to be in there. Suter is 14th all time in points by a defenceman with the 13 players with more points all in the hall. Suter also has a Cup, Calder and a 91 point season. At no time would the Flames GM even consider trading Suter for Lowe and the Oilers GM at the time would have done it in a heart beat.

It’s pretty cool that the two greatest Flames of all time in Lanny and Iggy are both even better people than they were players.

I have made my first-ever wikipedia edit!!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...etired_numbers

Iggy is now highlighted yellow to indicate HHOF, and I added the citation 48.

Ugh.
How does Kevin Lowe get into the HHOF after such a medicore career that was bouyed only by playing on an Oiler juggernaugt? Not a single look at a Norris, only 400 points in 1200 games (mostly in the 80s too) and is what we're considering hall worthy now? It's actually a major slap in the face to so many great players that this turd somehow weaseled his way in.

Talk about LOWEring the bar.

Wonder how many of those points were secondary assists where he dished the puck to Gretzky in his own zone?

For fun, Kevin Lowe registered:
221 secondary assists in general.
36 secondary assists with Gretzky as the primary assist.
21 primary assists with Gretzky as the goal scorer.
