I think Coleman's two-way game is needed with Monahan-Gaudreau if they stick with those two together.
Do not like the D pairings. I hope they move Hanifin up asap. I suppose he's thinking shutdown and offensive pairings but IMO Hanifin just won't get sufficient minutes if that's the case.

The same world that Troy Brouwer was a $4.5M PP1 player on.

I agree on the Coleman part, as Mangiapane didn't move the needle for Monahan and Gaudreau last season.
As for the D I was actually hoping for those pairings. I thought that Hanifin is ready to take the step and carry his own pairing. You split your 2 best D, but you'll get more balanced pairings. I also think that Tanev - Zadorov will be the first PK pairing, so they need to get used to each other on the ice ASAP.

Eatbread has an under-rated defensive game.

I'm guilty of always having day 1 optimism, but the forward lines look balanced and more defined. Clear top two lines. A shut down 3rd with the ability to chip in. And a 4th line designed to wear down the opposition and not give up too much. Traditional definitions, so maybe boring, but that's what I see.

Seeing it all on paper - woof.
If this teams goes anywhere at all it will be entirely on the backs of Johnny and Darryl. Not a lot else to like there.

Lines look ok to me considering it is literally the first day of on ice training camp. But please continue with the self-pity Flames fan party some here so enjoy.

Those lines give me optimism. I think Flames are a better team this season. Darryl Sutter getting a full training camp will be a big help.

That should be the Flames slogan: “maybe boring but that’s what I see”

I just don't see it. His positioning in his own zone isn't great and neither is his stick, and he flies the zone a bit. He's good at forechecking and dogged on puck control though, which are defence in a way.
Dube-Backlund-Pitlick is a line that could be very effective IMO.

Would still love to see some more trades to shuffle the middle 6 fw grouping a bit. Still want to see another RHS RW for the top two lines. Other than that, nothing earth Shattering to see and you can only hope Gaudreau and Monhan rekindle that chemistry from a couple years ago. A lot to bank on there.

So you think Monahan is good at defense and Mangiapane isn’t?

Ritchie is the 7th forward. I think they slot him in for practice reps with guys he's skated with before. Don't panic (yet).
ETA: I meant 13th forward - duh.
