I have a sinking feeling Eichel is going to Anaheim.

I hate Anaheim, so I would (almost) bet real money on him ending up there. The window where the California teams suck seems to be closing almost immediately.

I think we have a couple better trade chips than Anaheim, roster-wise.

But it does sound like Buffalo wants picks and futures, so they would have a good shot.

LA makes the most sense by far. And because it’s the Flames he will probably haunt us for years.

Is Anaheim willing to risk giving up their first though?

I don’t see Anahiem giving up their top prospects. I think they’d be silly to push in now kind of like LA. Just continue to build for another year or two and do it right.

I saw a tweet that stated Pegula wants him in the west.

I would think if the Sabres really want to screw Eichel over they would send him to Calgary over LA, or Vegas

What has to fill the gaps that sees Tkachuk in St Louis and Eichel in Calgary?

I find if you look at NY Rangers or Montreal forums, no one is willing to give up anything for Eichel. I'm not sure the Sabres are interested in trading with teams with tons of untouchables. It's Eichel we're talking about.

And then here we are willing to sell our souls for him. Many of us need a star center in order to die at peace.

It sounds like if he went to the eastern, the price would be a bit higher.

I'm fine with an Eichel - Backlund 1-2 punch. Our most successful seasons have had less correlation with either Lindholm or Monahan at center than they have with Backlund and the 3M line(s).

Eichel - Lindholm - Backlund sure would be a sexy 1-2-3 though. But if it meant losing Gaudreau or Tkachuk... nah.

Gaudreau - Eichel - ?
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane

the framework is there with these five.

Eichel/Backlund would be fine... as long as they added another winger to play in the top-nine.

Eichel
Lindholm
Backlund

Or don’t bother showing up.

Calgary fans deserve to have a #1 C (elite?) to match up against the guy(s) 3 hours to the north. How often does this opportunity arise? C'mon Brad, big swings only. Eichel is out there and he's available. Stop puttering with the 4th line and land the big one.

I mean it's probably fair to assume Buffalo insists on Lindholm as part of the return. I want Eichel/Lindholm as much as the next guy but if pushed to it, I'd be excited to see us enter next season with something like

Gaudreau - Eichel - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Dube - Ruzicka - Phillips
Lucic - Ryan - Pitlick

Yeah I also think Phillips will be on the team, I don't think they'll be comfortable waiving him to start next year (he's now waiver eligible).

Losing Lindholm and Monahan is too much, Backlund slides in best as the third line center

Both Monahan and Lindholm gone in that trade?

People on this board be like:

Thinks Monahan isn't a #1 center.
Also thinks Backlund is a #2 center.
