Romanuk hasnt been on HNIC in a couple years. Dont think they bring him back. Randorf is doing Tampa Bay now.

Cuthbert will be number one. I believe they will give bulk of Saturday Western games to Harnarayan Singh. John Bartlett will get more games as well. Ball will feature in some national games but not sure he will get too many looks on HNIC on the traditional Saturdays. Guess it depends on how many Canadian teams are playing on a given Saturday evening.

I am still waiting for the day you can watch a hockey game broadcast with no commentary, just the sounds of the game amped up.

Romanuk’s call is still making my ears ring, which is why I assumed he was still around.

You could just mute the game and pretend it's still the '20-21 season.

Was my first thought… Rick calls such a perfect and unbiased game, he calls each play as it happens and with honesty and integrity so that the play by play calls he gives come across as pure and with the correct amounts of inflection and excitement always at the right times. He provides great humour during the in betweens and has great chemistry with his colour commentators and the different styles they usually have that he accommodates with out struggle and makes it all look so incredibly natural and easy. Selfishly I hope they keep their hands off of Rick Ball but in all honesty I hope he gets a shoulder tap and a national gig.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I love listening to him because he makes it clear he is the flames play by play guy. But is not a sickening homer like that crap in Edmonton or Toronto. Kelly and him make a great team. He even makes Cassie Campbell watchable at times.

I swear he’s got the best vision for the play in the business. He is so accurate with stuff like tips, what actually happened on a penalty, pucks nicking the glass on the way out etc.

This just means Cuthbert gets elevated to number 1 chair, though its certainly possible Rick Ball gets a move up as well....for Saturdays at least.

This already happened most of last season. But the 2nd guy was Garry Galley and that Ottawa guy. I think dean brown. They seemed to love that crew.

Ya I didn’t mind their crew honestly. I always liked Randorf also but he’s living life in Tampa now.

One of the absolute best. He was clear, concise and had a great voice.

John Bartlett is the next Bob Cole.

When the play is happening, he calls the game.

He doesn’t tell you about a point streak nobody cares about, or where a guy played Junior ten years ago, or have unrelated conversations with Gary Galley.

Absolutely the most pleasant surprise of this post-season for me - I could stand listening to that guy for another 30-40 years.

Dean Brown has not been with Sportsnet for seven years. He went back to TSN and calls games on TSN 1200 radio in Ottawa.

If you have surround sound you just turn the centre channel to 0 and no commentary.
