The only time I can cheer for the Oilers is when they play the Canucks...and I am using the term 'cheer' very loosely

The Oilers won't finish 14th in the West forever.

Eventually a couple of expansion teams will be added which will nestle the Oilers into 16th.

The best thing that could happen right now is for "Bold Moves" MacTavish to realize that no one wants his overpriced garbage, so the only way to improve his team this year is to trade their 2015 first rounder. Then, he can make an impassioned speech about how they won't accept continually settling for losses and dreaming about generational draft picks.

I will roll a 20 sided dice for them. Oh wait, 0.4 rounds down to zero. No good

I cheered for the Oilers in the 2006 playoffs. That was mainly because the Mighty Ducks eliminated us in the QF and they were facing the Oilers. Mamma went to Walmart and bought me one of them cheap Oiler jerseys to wear to school.

Today, I consider an Oiler jersey to be 200 bucks of high quality toilet paper.

The NHL will add a relegation league where the Oilers will spend eternity in rebuild mode.

I want to see this goofs actually win some games, enough to get them out of the top 5 picks.
Unfortunately I don't think they have enough character to even do that.

Total teams: 1

They will just hold scrimmages twice a week

Scary part is that the other teams in the basement of the NHL are more poised to improve as the season goes on... (Blue jackets, Hurricanes, flyers,... Even buffalo). I don't think anyone can say the same thing about the oilers.

They've already played a lot of games against the east and lots of home games as well... Not that home ice means much for them. Plus they are very healthy right now and are worse than ever. They have horrible leadership so it's lot like they can depend on that to help get the team turned around. Their upcoming schedule is preds, Blues, coyotes, jets, sharks, sharks, ducks, ducks, rangers, coyotes, sharks, stars, coyotes, flames, kings, flames... Can anyone say with any confidence that the oilers are favoured to win any of those games at all? They could easily have a 30th overall finish locked down by New Years.

Mediocrity Now? I prefer Apocalypse Now for the Oilers.

I really want the Oilers to get the lottery pick, use it on McDavid only for him to refuse to play for them ala Lindros. That would be true embarrassment and the ultimate gut shot to a franchise and fanbase which worked so hard to land McDavid.

Hell, a team in the Oilers' position should grasp at mediocrity with both hands and hold on for dear life compared to the dumpster-fire they are right now.

Or finish dead last, lose the lottery pick to Buffalo, then have American Jack Eickel refuse to come to northern AB...

I will never cheer for the Oilers, and while it is a guilty pleasure of mine to read their forums and laugh in entertainment, I definitely want them to get better eventually so we can have our rivalry like the good ol days. The battles back in the day were just amazing to watch and be apart of. They always felt like playoff games.

Also, I'd want people to be afraid of the Alberta teams, instead of an Alberta trip being considered an easy 2 points (although I think this year we've definitely earned a lot of respect from the league), similar to how everyone preps for the California trip.

I completely understand the schadenfreude Flame fans Are enjoying at the expense of the Oilers & their fans.
No one, least not I, expect anything different. That's part of ecstasy & agony of sports rivalry.

I don't wish mediocrity on them, but how about slightly less useless, like 25th best? I don't want to hate McDavid or Eichel.

No. Not enough humble pie has been eaten, seriously is there a worse brand of troll then Oiler troll? I do want them to get better at some point because I want the BoA to actually mean something... but not yet, they don't deserve it.
