Oh yeah. While it's true you were reading it wrong, I think your gear grinder is still valid.
Because why would the duration of "this is my trusted personal device I don't need 2FA" ever be 8 hours. I'd never check that box on a device that wasn't my own, and I'm likely to continue owning my phone/laptop for more than 8 hours...

I've never seen so much diving and whining as I've seen in soccer since trying to become a fan of the sport in the past few years. Just filled with diving, whining bitches. It's embarrassing.

Again... no sport is immune to embellishment - especially hockey. Look at the Oil.

No sport is immune. But it’s far more common in soccer than in other sports. You might see one or two dives in an NHL game. In a lot of soccer games you see 7 or 8.
And it isn’t just the embellishment, it’s how they do it. You don’t see hockey players grabbing their body parts and yowling in fake pain. That’s the really embarrassing part - the performative agony. Don’t they have any pride?

Yeah, there's really no excuse for it. I'm a fan of soccer, but the embellishment is a complete embarrassment. The Copa America final yesterday had someone flopping around every 45 seconds it seemed.

To me that embellishment and diving is more a part of certain cultures that play soccer. It's rampant in the Copa because in South America it's part of the game. Watching the Euros is a contrast though as there just isn't as much of that ridiculousness.

I was thinking it must be something like this. Copa has probably been the worst I’ve ever seen, with the obvious example being De Paul acting more seriously injured by a phantom touch than Davies acted for an injury that actually took him out of the game.

Totally, though I feel like it still happens in the European brand a fair bit too. It's one of the big reasons I chose England as my Euro soccer nation to pull for back in the day (which has cost me it seems), they didn't seem as prone to that stuff.
Maybe it was more just the nation's rosters at the time when I first got into it in the early 2000s, but I feel national teams like the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal were quite prone to melodramatic flopping.

That’s why I always support Japan and S Korea in the World Cup. Very little diving by their players.

Well the problem that is still inherent is that if you stay on your feet, you don't get the call. It's stupid, and that really is the root cause, but players who get fouled and don't drop like they've been shot are costing themselves/their team.

And the value of a foul in the box is an 80% chance at a goal. Compare that with a 10-20% chance in hockey.
Or compared to basketball a foul is 2% of the points you need to win a game, in soccer it’s 50-100% of the goals you need to win the game.
So the value of a foul being awarded is significantly higher than hockey or Basketball therefore the embellishment is also higher. Not sure how you combat it.

Easy. If your in so much pain you have to roll around like you were shot, your going off the field for the next ten minutes for observation and medical attention. If it’s still worth faking injuries, up it to the half.
This rolling around until they bring out the magic spray can of your own farts is pathetic. I’ve tried to get into soccer several times but I just can’t make it past the drama. Think I might rather watch a mime competition. At least I know what to expect going in.

Most of the time when a player stops the game, they are forced to wait on the sideline until the offical waves them back onto the pitch. It's not un common to make them wait a minute or two if its obvious time wasting.

Clearly soccers Department of Player Safety needs to do more to protect these players that are trying to endure potentially career ending injuries. If they can’t bounce back up, they need to go off for attention. If their hands go to their head /face, they should go into concussion protocol.

They are chasing a red card for the opposition. They should give red cards for over embellishing.
