I've volunteered to serve meals at homeless shelters in the past. Its usually a very pleasant experience.
If you ever need an emotional or mental 'pick-me-up' those places are awesome!
"At least I've got it better than that guy!"
I am kidding. Of course.
I know you’re just kidding but I don’t think you’re completely off the mark here, though I wouldn’t characterize it as a “pick me up” rather as a very humbling and eye opening experience for anyone who has never done it. An experience that really puts things into perspective as to how good we have it compared to a lot of people out there, even at times when you think everything in your life is going wrong.
I’ve volunteered at organizations like the mustard seed in the past and I am a person who very rarely gets emotional even in situations where I probably should be, but the first time I had kids the same ages as mine come up to get their plates while I was helping to serve meals was really really difficult for me.
It really changed my outlook on life. At the time I was going through what to me felt like a “rough” patch in my life but it opened my eyes to the fact that if you and your family are healthy and you’ve got enough money to keep a roof over your heads and food in your bellies most everything else in the world that we want is just fluff. Basically don’t stress over the little things.

My mother imbued in me the spirit of volunteerism. She volunteered for the '88 Olympics. She volunteered as a 'White Hat' at the Airport. She volunteered as a Tour Guide at City Hall and she has volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for over 30 years.
I've done my own fair bit of volunteering. I did 10 years as a youth soccer coach among many, many other things.
Including serving meals or making beds for Inn from the Cold and the Mustard Seed.
Despite my sarcasm and crass sense of humour, helping others is pretty much what I do.

I was in Banff twice over the last 2 weeks, just getting through town and across the bridge is a chore. Full on traffic jam. Yeah, it's over, the enjoyment of visiting has been greatly diminished.
Idiot in McKenzie towne lighting off fire works last night, 1 or 2 sets of fireworks cool , fun. 7-8 fireworks, all the same kind, nothing different at all, 5 mins apart, now you're just annoying everyone for 40 mins.
I think Mckenzie Towne is the city capital of making a tonne of noise for no reason, loud crappy cars, loud music, just obnoxious people in general.

That's wild. A ton of money and effort has been poured into it. I've been part of some of it. I'm totally surprised you haven't noticed.
The new log jam is three or four years old. Like top to bottom brand new versus just a refresh or refurbishment of the old one. It's literally a brand new bazillion dollar log ride.
While the log ride has definitely seen some improvements in the last decade, it's definitely not a "top to bottom brand new" ride.
For reference, here's what it looks like now:
Spoiler!
vs. it's original look pre-2015 renovation:
Spoiler!
It hasn't seen any significant upgrades since the 2015 reno, which was mostly just visuals and increasing the speed in the 'rapids' area after the first drop.

Morons choosing to jaywalk and expecting you to stop for them, idiots. And crazy old lady upset about where other people are parking. Not sure if she was drugged out but glad not to have to physically deal with her.
