Okay fine. But I really think it needs its own thread.
Lets see...with what can I whet thine appetite?
I remember one day there was an accident along Highway 1 so all the incoming buses were late.
I've got all my stuff sorted and ready to go and we're just twiddling our thumbs.
As I said before, they closed the main station where most of the maintenance and repairs were done so they had to do them at the 9th Ave station. So we had all of their equipment!
Anyhoodles...I had all of my stuff done and ready to go, there were no incoming buses due to road conditions and they halted the outgoing ones so...I was bored.
Thusly...I took our shop-sweeper truck and started cleaning 9th avenue.
Its not really a 'truck' per se as its about the size of a golf cart, with no roof or windshield, but it has a 'sweeper' attachment on it.
Because I was bored.
Here is this golf-cart sized thing with Greyhound logos all over it and a dude in Greyhound coveralls just....cleaning 9th Ave.
Oh the Police were not fans of that I'll tell you.
I got the whole range of bitches.
"You're taking someone else's job!"
"You cant drive that on Public roads!"
"Your Union doesnt work this area!"
Oh it was wild.
I'm on this little sweeper and I've got 2 squad cars escorting me back to the station, lights on but no sirens, and we get there and the Cop that originally pulled me over wants to talk to my supervisor. So I get out of the sweeper and take them to the supervisor's office.
Which was HILARIOUS.
"What do you want me to do about it? If you ticket him it just goes straight to the ATU (Amalgamated Transit Union) and they'll kick your teeth in. Did he at least do a good job?"
Yes. Yes. He. Did.
So what's the problem?
You've got the Police Union, the City Union and the Greyhound Union (fighting ATU) who should be responsible for this catastrophic outrage of a bored employee sweeping 9th avenue.
My Union head is saying that they can't arrest me because "he has rights and nobody explicitly said you cant drive a sweeper on 9th avenue!"
The Police Union wanted nothing to do with me. They thought it was hilarious!
The City Union was pissed because..."Yer stealin' our jerbs!!"
Which is nonsense. The City is going to have to do it anyways. Its a Golf-Cart sized sweeper. And even if it wasnt, they'd re-do it anyways. Nobody got hurt.
Oh man. The Dirty Dawg.
"Do you know how many crimes you a committed?"
Me: "No. But probably a few."
"See you at work tomorrow?"
Me: "Sure. Why not?"
