The stores are where they make most of their money so they want you to have to go inside in hopes that you'll decide to buy something while you're there.

I don’t know if it counts much as a respite from the rain if you’re getting all of the umbrella run-off as someone passes by with their umbrella. It’s like walking beneath the edge of an awning.

I actually would like to see us go back to paying inside. I think it was just one really bad incident that made the change, and Governments tend to act too quickly by adopting simple solutions. Although people say there is a lot of theft going on when you don't have to pay at the pump. I don't know whether that's true or not. You don't have to pay at the pump in Ontario, and I don't think they are any more honest than Albertans.

Forcing people to pay inside? Why would you ever want this? If you want to, go ahead. Nobody is stopping you.

Particularly aggravating during the morning, noon and evening rush hours at the Mega stations with restaurants.
I’ve contemplated making up “OUT OF ORDER” stickers. “Pump 17 is out of order, it did not print a receipt. Don’t worry, I put an out of order sticker on it for you.”
The strength of the adhesive will correspond with my level of annoyance.

I mean paying inside after you fill up, without having to use your credit card.

What does this achieve? Just to get a receipt?

No it's just seems more of what I'm used to. I like to jump out of the car and put the knozzle in and fill it up. Then go in and get a receipt, get a bottle of water, perhaps a chocolate bar. etc.
Not get out the car, and put in my card, say I don't want a car wash, agree to pay way more than I am getting, wait for a receipt that never appears.
I have experienced the inability to get my credit card back on one occasion, and on another, ended up having to phone the gas station to advise that they not only billed me for the gas, but also for the 100 dollars that I clicked on initially.
just my opinion

I personally enjoy the complete lack of Human interaction.
I just want to get my gas and go. Its not like..."Its Gas Station Day today! Wheee!!!"
Its more "GodDAMMIT!! I have to stop at the goddamned Gas station or I cant get to work!!!"
I even like the ones that have tap...and theres my Gear Grinder, the tap function on my credit card seems to have magically decided to stop working so there I am inserting the card for the chip...like an animal!

I will drive away and find another gas station if their machines don't have the tap reader working, let alone if I have to go inside to pay. Looking at you, Esso at 14th Street & 26th Ave SW.

I was watching the Robocop Documentary and there is a scene where they blow up the gas station and the guy in there is doing Physics homework or some nonsense and he's getting robbed!
Who would rob a Gas Station? What are you going to get? $20 buck and some Doritos?

I am not sure if you are aware of this security feature or not but all credit cards have a cumulative tap limit on top of a daily tap limit. It's a forced feature to make you include your PIN which then proves you are in possession of your card. It's used for fraud purposes and to ensure they can enforce their cardholder agreements.
That is why a lot of times people will say "the tap isn't working today" at a location they frequent and are forced to PIN. It limits scenarios where you lose your card and someone can tap away until they drain the account.
That may or may not be the case for your fuel station.

My friend and I (with our kids) were walking down the street this morning and I had a guy challenge me to a fight (by meeting me at the local circle K) because I yelled at him to slow down, he was doing at least 60 in a school zone.
Weird interaction, he was very young and very bro

I took my son suit shopping at Ed Williams and I think the experience turned him into Peter12.

For those of you who dislike the ordeal of paying for gas (either at the pump or inside the store) if you have an EV you charge effortlessly overnight at home and drive off into your day and never have to use a gas station. An overlooked pro in the EV / ICE comparison.

Had to go back to see what this was about. Glad I did. Not every day you see a wistful old man not just wishing he could go get a chocolate bar at the gas station, but that everyone had to… like the good old days.

I miss when the gas jockey came out to wash your windows and check your oil. I'd tip him a shiny nickel.
