It's not the usual suspects of Memphis, Birmingham, Orlando, San Antonio, and Shreveport.

Yeah, that surprised me as well. I guess they realized that NFL is not a competitor or roadblock and if fact in terms of stadium access is actually an ally with everything set up.

They were never going to be in the market to receive significant box/suite revenue so why not just use an NFL stadium and collect seat revenue in a nice venue that people actually want to go to?

Seems weird they would set up in a place like Tampa Bay that doesn't really support their NFL team or MLB teams. Hard to imagine a market like that going out and buying tickets for this league.

Unless market research has shown that a "big" market doesn't support full pro league prices and figures they can undercut and bring out 20k-30k in a large city that weren't going to NFL games but would come out to see decent football at $20-$80.

Maybe but you can go to Rays games for less than $20 and nobody is going.

Tampa Bay has never been a great pro sports market, but in a small measure of defence for the Rays, the ballpark is terrible and the location is even worse.

The bigger problem for the XFL is, oddly enough, the Lightning. They will be competing for dollars against the one sports team the market actually does care about. That said, this is still football in the US.
