The problem is they have no shame, they treat collecting first overall picks like a badge of honour.

Sens officially get the Isles first rounder now. So that’s three first rounders for them this year including 3rd and 5th picks.

I hope no Canadian team gets Lafreniere. Especially Toronto (I already hear way too much about Mathews, Marner, etc). Double especially for Edmonton (why do analysts think this team is somehow good? Too much McDavid this and McDavid that. I also don't want them to have a chance at ruining another possible superstar that I would otherwise enjoy seeing as a hockey fan). I really don't want to see Vancouver, Winnipeg or any other Canadian team get him.
Pittsburgh I am fine with. For many years, they became my second team to follow when Badger Bob and Joey Mullen were there. I loved watching the Lemieux, Jagr and Francis show. I couldn't stand Crosby for the first few seasons as I thought he pouted way too much, but I don't hate them now. Their purposeful tank for Lemieux was ugly though, and then they got lucky with Crosby - I can see why people wouldn't like it, but I am a bit of a Pens fan still (sort of). Being groomed by Crosby and Malkin and getting to play with them would probably be awesome for the kid as well.
From the process of elimination, Florida is probably the least offensive to Calgary Fans. No rivalry, won't interfere in the standings, could use an injection of interest in that franchise, etc. Makes the most sense.

This year provides Bettman the perfect chance to put the fix in for the Rangers. I am calling it now.

Sens can really do some business. I wonder if they try to move up.

Do people actually believe the NHL has the ability to pull of a rigged draft lottery?
First it was rigger for the Habs... then the Oilers or Leafs... and now for the Rangers? LOL
I tend to think the odds of them rigging it at somewhere close to 0%.

They can't rig it, but they create rules and adjust (which they have already because of them). If the Oilers win then I can see them instituting and naming it the Oiler rule so it will be forever in the NHL rules. They already have had discussions about limiting the number of times a team can win.

If it could be, the Oilers would not have won the McDavid lottery. That wasn't in the best interest of the league. Nor would they have changed odds of winning after that.
OT, but I still think the lottery odds do not fairly reflect the overall parity of the league currently. I still don't know what they were thinking this year by making it possible for a potential top 10 regular season team to have a 12.5% chance of getting 1st overall though. Pittsburgh, with 40 wins and 23 losses should be nowhere near that pick. Neither should the Oilers for that matter.

Should mention with all this draft chatter, Peter Loubardias is quarterbacking our NHL Draft podcast, and the first guess is none other than Tod Button.

Yup, Arizona advances, so the Flames will now pick no sooner than 17th.

Now Montreal is through and the Flames will pick no higher than 18th (assuming the Habs and Yotes don't make the Conference Finals).

Maybe the Russian goalie (Akarov?) falls to 17/18? I could live with that.
