Habs make trio of deals

The Montreal Canadiens decided to take the opposite approach of the NHL Oilers and surround their star players with a better core.

The Thursday transformation brought in a different look up front and the focus now will be to improve the defence on Friday.

Deal 1:
To Edmonton
Jonathan Drouin
To Montreal
Anthony Mantha

This is a simple shake up deal. Drouin was not fitting in and we are hoping Mantha can get it going here.

Deal 2:
To Buffalo
Yakov Trenin
Ian Mitchell
Emil Heineman
To Montreal
Kevin Fiala

Big fan of Fiala’s style of play. We gave up a significant amount of prospect depth but are hoping Fiala can get out 2nd line going.

Deal 3
To Anaheim
Karill Kaprisov
To Montreal
Matthew Tkachuk

We drafted Tkachuk and tried to trade for him at least 100 times unsuccessfully. We love Kaprisov. But we wanted Tkachuks grit in the lineup. It was a tough deal to make but we are hoping it pays off.

Todays focus will be bringing in another top 4 D. We have a lot of depth of front right now so hope to find chemistry with the new additions.
