Pretty impressed with their game overall. Both Stars goals were flukes, we carried the play for the majority of the game. Top line needs to step it up though right now, need a big game from them next game.
To put it kindly, this is a game that past editions of the team would find a way to lose in pretty embarrassing fashion.

It was super encouraging to see the first shift after the 2-2 goal. The Flames went out and calmed things down right away and didn't let the game get away like we've seen so many times before.

- Was super impressed by the entire D core for the most part (Gio was probably the weakest link)
- Ward needs to do a lot better of a job managing that 1st line, how many offensive draws did line 1 get? They were bad and in their own end most of the night but Ward needs to realize for any success they need to be going. Please, like virtuallly every other team in the league, put them out in the offensive zone when you have a draw

You can tell Johnny and Mony are trying harder in the defensive zone and it is at the cost of offensive chances.
You kind of hope that they are going through the same process that Mangiapane and Dube went through when they first came up from the AHL where they struggled offensively while focusing on their play in the defensive zone then once they figured that out, the offense started to come.
It’s weird to have to think like that for a couple of established scorers but that’s all I can hope.

Last year in pre-season I bought a Neal jersey and was too embarrassed to wear it by the end of the season.
This year in pre-season I bought a Lucic jersey and will be wearing it proudly all day tomorrow.
Anyone who still thinks the Oilers won that trade (or at the very least thinks it didn’t work out in Calgary’s favour too) is delusional.
Yes, it wasn't maybe totally clear during the year (to some, personally I was happy just to see Neal gone and hopeful that Lucic could find some of his old self here) but at this point, it has to be - cap space, Lucic is adding value every night in multiple ways (tonight, face-off specialist!), and a pick? Sold.
