Default Steve Montador passes away at age 35

I am shocked and saddened by this news.

Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
It's with sadness that I just learn the passing of Steve Montador. He was 35 years old. He played 571 games in the NHL.

update:
http://www.mississauga.com/news-stor...sissauga-home/

Quote:
Former NHL player Steven Montador was found dead inside his Mississauga home early Sunday morning, according to Peel Regional Police.

Police said a female friend woke up at 2 a.m. to find Montador deceased. She contacted police and he was pronounced dead just after 2:30 a.m. at his residence.

"Foul play is not suspected, pending the outcome of an autopsy," said Const. Fiona Thivierge, a Peel police spokesperson.

At this time, Thivierge said, the incident is being treated as a sudden death investigation, not a criminal investigation.
James Mirtle @mirtle
Steve Montador's death believed to be a suicide. He suffered from concussions and depression. Difficult financial situation too I'd heard.

James Mirtle @mirtle
On Montador: There's an updated report from police it was natural causes with further investigation coming. If so I apologize to his family.

What? Far to young. Did he have a medical condition?

Wow. I remember when he was first called up before our cup run. He far surpassed expectations. Crazy, he was so young.

Wow... this is shocking and very sad.

He was a good player for us for a few seasons. Another guy who really had to prove himself to make it in the NHL. I know he was a really popular guy among his peers as well (Sutter always gave him a lot of praise).

Sad news. He signed my jersey back in 04 when I was just a young teen. Very fond memories of him from the run.

Damn RIP Monty, loved him in 2004, really represented the underdog theme of the team.

Daryl and Rhett were just reminiscing about him last week on the radio.
