Much better. TF2 boils down to how many heavy-medic combos you have, it's so stale. Whereas Overwatch has so many counters for each character that you don't get the "must have" team composition. It's also far faster paced, playing as an agile Pharah vs. the lumbering Soldier is so refreshing

The bracket/match system in this game is painfully obvious...I just hit lvl 30 last night, and all the matches I'm seeing now have me engaging folks who's levels are between 25 and 80. The number of complete overmatches has increased quite a bit, as while level isn't a sole indicator of skill, it's still not a horrible one, and a team of 6 lvl 25-40's taking on a team of 75-80's is just...well...let's be glad the overmatches are short.

He can reflect any projectile based ultimate, including Hanzo's dragons.

Mei's ultimate, Blizzard. So it reflected back and froze her entire team, instead of his.

Level is a horrible way to do matchmaking, as the only thing it proves is someone has played a lot of the game. It shouldn't even factor in whatever algorithm they run to determine your skill.

My level 27 in splatoon routinely pwns level 50s. Only reason I'm not 50 myself is that I am not a teen/tween with nothing but time on my hands to play a game six hours per day, every day.

Blizz is notably pretty lazy with matchmaking.

The word on the street is however that once you hit 80, the matchmaking finally resorts to something resembling ELO.

Also, there is a Competitive Mode (wooooo!) being introduced sometime this month for players over Level 30, so I'm sure that will have much more aggressive ELO/ladder/bracket setup.

“The system that we had implemented was what we like to call 'progression-based.' We thought there was a lot of coolness to doing this kind of system and that's why we had the one month reset, because it feels good to go through the progression more than one time,” Kaplan said. “What was not implemented, was what we called our 'heroic rank,' where it would show a stack ranking of top players who hit that rank. There was a misunderstanding among our playerbase that everyone was going to get to heroic rank, which is not true, just like it's not true that everybody will get to legendary in Hearthstone. The perception of our system was off. So the new system, when we unveil it, I think you'll see that it's much more skill-based.”
Also coming: McCree nerf and D.Va buff, and a boost in tick rate.

D.Va buff? In my experience, she's already practically a tank when you attach Mercy to her. I've literally been able to just stand in place and mow people down while the healer hides beside me. And I'm by no means a great player. (Only reason I am as good as I am at Splatoon is that I realize killing people is only a secondary objective.)

I can't speak to high-level play, but I always find D.Va's mech to be really easy to take down, and her weapon too puny. Only her ult is useful, and her mobility.

Paired with Mercy yeah she can be a pain, but then it's just a matter of Tracer/Genji/Sniper taking out Mercy and then she's a sitting duck.

I have no idea why I keep reading this thread. I don't own this game. I don't play FPS, particularly multiplayer FPS, because I suck at them and don't have time to get good. With the weather being what it is I don't even want to get sucked into a new video game.

But it just looks so damned fun.

When TF2 came out, I was one of quite a few that just kept playing Wolfenstein ET, ha. I'm intrigued as well, but I wish so bad they made a legit new version of wolf et

This is probably a sarcastic post, but Overwatch subscribes to the MOBA thought of "collectables", and has different skins rather than hats.

So, kind of? You unlock "Loot Boxes" at every level, which can contain skins, sprays, voice packs, and "coins" (which can be used to buy skins).

You can also spend real $$$ to buy loot boxes if you have a head injury.

Maybe. Even without a healer attached, 50/50 I get a commendation for longest kill streak with D.Va. I wouldn't say no to a buff, however.

I'm exactly the same way...the game really interests me but I've been strong so far.

I'm following this even though I had beta and didn't get sucked and did not buy it. I'm wondering if I just didn't give it enough of a chance.

Don't really need another Blizzard game though, I'm already pretty big into Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
