I’ve always felt that Captain Morgan’s goes better with Pepsi than it does with Coke. Pretty much every other alcoholic drink taste better mixed with Coke.
There was a really excellent documentary on the history channel, the Cola Wars. I'd encourage everyone to watch it. Its amazing, especially the whole section on New Coke and how Pepsi basically slaughtered Coke after its release.

I still remember when Coke renamed Tab Diet Coke. At that time Diet Cola's were rare and just for the chicks man, it was advertised directly for females.
Coke broke that stereo type with Diet Coke.

Interesting. I'm the opposite. I didn't like the original Coke Zero, but prefer the new version.
I can't tell the difference, had no idea the formula had even changed. Back around 2014 I had finally decided to lose weight after tipping the scale at 250. Cut out almost all sugar, all bread, and started counting calories. I allowed myself a single can of Coke Zero per day as my sweet fix, Coke specifically has always been my biggest vice. Managed to drop down to 180 lbs and got so used to Coke Zero that I can't even have a regular Coke now, it's way too sweet
I still have my single can per day, along with at least 2 litres of water. Don't smoke, don't drink coffee, not a big booze drinker, so this is my one vice that I'm fine with
I quit caffeine a few years back, and find if I have anything caffeinated now I don't sleep for a full 24 hours after. I also don't really like the taste of artificial sweeteners.
So my preferred option is coca-cola caffeine free. Which they only sell in the US, not Canada. Here all the caffeine free choices have artificial sweetener.
I have not had a Coke or Pepsi in over 7 years. Stopped drinking them cold turkey. I had no choice as I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. It wasn't hard to do, the existence of diet or Zero drinks made it easy.
I was always a Pepsi drinker though. I prefer Pepsi Zero over Coke Zero but I wouldn't care one way or the other if it was diet Pepsi or Coke.
I still drink a lot of diet pop or Zero. I try not to but it is hard to quit.

I can remember the Pepsi taste challenges where you'd be asked which one tastes better. I would always respond by saying this one is Coke and the other is Pepsi. Back then I found Pepsi to be sweeter and Coke to have much more carbonation.
