Default 2022 PGA Tour Thread

Svensson is one back on the back nine at the Honda.

A solid finish today should get him a long way towards making the playoffs.

Welp I put the hex on him. Back to back bogeys and he's 4 back T5.

That was a quick -6 down to -2. Yikes. Complete collapse.

There were lots of collapses on that course. Nice to see a tournament where you don't have to be in the -20s to have a chance.

Svensson is in good shape for the season with two top tens now.

I'm sure I heard about this before and memory just reflecting my age, but this fund is kind of a big "say what??" for me. Maybe it is just the top dogs making the really big bucks, but increasingly hard to sympathize with the plight of PGA Tour golfers.

I had never heard of this.

How utterly ridiculous.

Cantlay is right...use it as prize money and let the players earn it.

Yeah, I read that before. I guess they felt that golfers just didn't have the personalities to be social media stars and they were kind of right. So with social media meaning so much these days in terms of relevance and golf struggling with an aging fanbase since the Tiger days, they've really ramped up their efforts to have that online footprint.

Tiger led the way by being so much better than the rest, while now a days the equipment and skill development has brought the best 15-20 golfers so close together that we're not likely to see that astronomical star again.

So now they need those stars to have huge personalities, large online following, tension etc. They've been loving the Bryson vs Koepka stuff. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there's some behind the scenes talk from PGA that fuels those interactions a bit.

The PGA and golf definitely need some new ideas and techniques in order to draw attention and bring in fans. Outside of golfers, the traditional four round, five hour format is not conducive towards drawing casual fans to tune in. They need their "stars" to become household names the way that Tiger grew in popularity. In terms of name recognition I doubt that the top 10 golfers even come close to matching what the top athletes in other sports have.

Ya, Tiger will be at the top of this category for years to come, regardless of what he does. Pretty silly though- virtually no social media presence (as if he has ever actually written one of his tweets) and hasn't played a tournament in over a year. His winning this is basically a lifetime achievement award. As far as who brought attention to the game (good and bad) just this year, no question it is Bryson, Brooks, and Phil (recent weeks anyway).

Drew Nesbitt lost a 3-1 playoff to Monday into Bay Hill.

No Hughes or Hadwin this week.

That would be for the Puerto Rico, I think. Bay Hill is an invitational.

If they are going to funnel money towards stars that help promote the game, OK fine I guess. Don't know If I would give them an award and publicize it.

I think it was the result of trying to appease the players wanting appearance fees. There is a lot of talk from stars who are big draws not getting compensated for bringing in crowds if they don’t win.

It’s so hard to watch Will zalatoris. He’s probably the best ball striker on tour and would probably do better letting me putt for him.

Ryan Bhrem has his wife on the bag in PR.

Currently leading in his last start on his medical exemption, needs solo 2nd to keep his tour card.
