Staying out of the way is exactly what the umpire did.

Nipped it in the bud and now it's over.

Yeah, if the ump gives Denis a code violation, it likely escalates things. Fine job by Carlos Bernardes who ironically has had run-ins with Rafa in the past.

I don't think that talking to a player and going "What do you want me to do" when he hasn't asked you to do anything, and stopping the other player from serving while everyone has a 30 second conversation about what the problem is, is "staying out of the way". But I think we'll just have to agree to disagree about this one.

Nice defense by Denis on that point.

That around the post shot was about 3 inches from that being the rally of the tournament.

Denis is definitely getting into some games on Nadal's serve, though. Nadal is also threatening sometimes but it's quite even this set.

Has Denis even double faulted yet?

Wow, what a serve to follow up a double with. Perfect.

Dennis barking at his box now, his mind can't wonder and have these negative thoughts during a match.

Yeah but what is Shapo doing with the shot selection? He's painted the corner twice when he didn't even need to, and then the next shot just kind of blocks it in the middle of the court to restart the rally... very strange, and not at all what he's been doing all tournament.

Of course, easy for me to say, I'm not playing one of the greatest of all time in extreme heat late in a major on Rod Laver.

Shapo has all the tools, but no toolbox.

Maybe time for a different mental coach.

Was a good run for Shapo. Needs to work on his mental game. Some maturity lacking.

That's a nice hold by Shapo, at least he makes Rafa try to serve out the 2nd set.

The big difference in this match for Shapo compared to his other opponents is that the guy on the other side of the net always makes you hit one more shot...and then one more shot...and then well you get it.

Yep. Hence my view beforehand: Rafa is a really bad matchup for him.

Honestly, Shapo doesn't even have all the tools. Some of the tools need to be sharpened quite significantly. The tools he does have are fantastic, but there's just so much that's not right. The frustrating thing is that it's very obvious what needs improvement, which makes you think maybe he's just not capable of improving them because you have to think they've tried.

But regardless, he beat Zverev... So this is a highly successful tournament. #### Zverev.
