I usually side with the owners when it comes CBA stuff but not in the case of the CFL. I just can't get on the side of a league that is so shady, secretive about their books, doesn't disclose salaries, imaginary salary cap, etc. I think the players have a bit of leverage here because the league can't afford to lose any games and moving the season back is not great for them either.

I hope the players stay unified. If they can force the owners hands it may be the tipping point that puts Ambrosie on thin ice as the league badly needs a better commissioner.

If there's a league where the fans will side with the players, I have to think it's the CFL. These guys get paid peanuts and I think most fans realize that.

12 padded practices? Per year? What a joke. Alberta teams are the only ones not on strike starting today. Quite the legacy Ambrosie is setting up for himself. Lol

@FarhanLajiTSN:
The 3 sticking points for @CFLPA:
- @CFL wants 12 padded practices. PA wants improved health & safety package if they’re to agree
- Revenue sharing needs to include all revenue. Not selected buckets. Statements need to be audited.
- Term of deal (if rev share doesn’t get fixed)

The salary cap & ratio moves are not the main issues. No more formal bargainingsessions are scheduled. But I would expect informal discussions to continue daily.
“We’re not that far apart” - source.

Kind of an advantage for the Alberta teams to get in organized activities and practice. I believe the NFL allows 14 padded practices during the regular season so I can understand the CFL asking for that.

According to multiple sources, the CFL and CFL Players’ Association are verging on a new seven-year collective bargaining agreement.

The deal will not be finalized until the league’s board of governors and the union’s membership have voted in favour of accepting it. Neither side has held a vote as of the publishing of this article.

The new CBA is expected to include guaranteed language on long-term veteran player contracts and include a substantial revenue sharing model that will be audited by a third party, per source.

So there will be 8 Canadians, one can be "nationalized"; three others can be American provided they only start 49% of the snaps on offense or defense. Weird.

Brendan Langley arrested at Newark airport following this scuffle. Looks like the airline employee took the first few shots.

CFLPA votes down tentative CBA agreement...

The CFL Players’ Association has voted down the tentative collective bargaining agreement that was agreed upon by the league and union last week, according to TSN’s Dave Naylor.

According to sources, the tentative @CFL CBA has been voted-down by the membership. This, despite being approved by the bargaining committee and recommended by team player reps. It has been defeated. There is no CBA. #CFLPA #CFL

Yikes.......bargained, agreed upon and pushed by the player reps. Apparently the CFLPA are not all on the same page.

Not surprising. You have a group of Canadians and Americans that have different priorities. What benefits Canadian players takes away from American players and vice versa.

CFL has put forward a new proposed CBA this morning...All teams are expected to resume practices today even without a CBA in place.
