I’m not exactly sure how Max ties into HBO Canada subscribers but I assume we’ll get this.

An American Pickle, the Seth Rogen-starring comedy that moved from Sony Pictures to HBO Max, has lined up an August 6 release date on WarnerMedia’s streaming service. The pic, from Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures, will world premiere as the first HBO Max original film under the Warner Max movie label.

Adapted by Seth Rich from his 2013 New Yorker novella Sell Out, An American Pickle stars Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great-grandson Ben Greenbaum (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand.
I just watched Welcome To Chechnya. It's a horrifying documentary about smuggling LGBTQ people out of the Republic. It makes me happy to live in Canada.

Kinda what you’d expect. Vanilla, go-America biopic.
Interesting to see the development of the Ford GT though. Probably still the nicest thing that Ford makes. There was one at car dealer by Chinook station. Beautiful.
I loved it. I have no interest in car racing, but it makes you invested.
Its also largely accurate as far as my prior knowledge of events was concerned. Theres some inconsistencies and exaggerations as one would expect but its mostly there.

Rewatched Rome for maybe the dozenth or so time, because I listened to Duncan’s ‘A History of Rome’ for a second time. Save for Band of Brothers, I’m not sure a better series, particularly season 1, has ever been produced.
