I don't think it is deserving of a hearing. The penalty was enough.

This is probably more about Maurice crying again.

Doesn’t look much different than the hit Rasmus took earlier in the game which left him trying to shake it off for quite a while but definitely unnecessary

Ridley Grieg (Ottawa) got suspended for 1 exhibition game and 1 regular season game.

Kind of a reckless play, buuuut... Harkins crawling around like he'd been shot and then suddenly jumping to his feet to throw an over-the-pile sucker punch, before dropping down and trying to go after Coleman's legs... I mean, kinda makes me want to see him get hit again.

Should be suspended. Overall, not impressed with him at all.

I feel like that was a worse hit (If I'm remembering the play correctly) and he hit a star in PLD did he not?

I would wager a one game suspension.

Meh. Didn’t really like it. Probably one of those “looks worse than it was”. Should probably get something. Can’t tell you what I think that something would be. I can tell you if a Flame got hit like that there wouldn’t even have been a penalty called.

The good news is he felt well enough to still join the scrum afterward so hopefully he isn't hurt too seriously.
I'm kind of glad Haskins was in that position due to a fall. I always hate when a player sees a hit coming and intentionally turns to face the boards to draw the penalty.

Yes, at the point of the hit Haskins was not going to be doing anything with the puck. I doubt Coleman meant him to plaster into the boards, but it was just too heavy.

The fact he has a hearing means a suspension IMO.

On the plus side though, Coleman looks like he's a heavy hitter. Like a lot of hits just kinda bounce off the target, but Coleman looks like he knows how to hit through his target... like he's not to trying to hit the guy, he's trying to hit the boards behind the guy.

It's gonna be fun watching him this season.

I've given up on predicting what the NHL will do in these situations, but it didn't look that bad to me. I think the penalty covered it.

Give him 5 games. He played 48 playoff games the past 2 years and we need him rested up to play 20+ this year.

Unnecessary second push for sure but I dont see this as a major incident. But I wont be surprised if he misses the season opener now knowing how the NHL deals with Flames infractions in the past.

This is where I am at.

Bad hit, shouldn't have done it. But it also wasn't that forceful. The other player was beginning to get up and get back into the play, and he was right there, so he hit him again. A little.

Problem was that it was right in the numbers, with the player's head right in front of the boards. Has to be reviewed and noted.

But based on severity, I think a fine is appropriate.

I tell myself every day that I am imagining it, but I have to say that with every single call from the officials and the league, I am left with the distinct impression that the Flames are treated differently than most teams. There appear to be 'marked' teams, and the Flames appear to be one of them.

With respect to this hit, was it in the back? Absolutely. Have I seen 5 to 10 hits so far in the pre-season that were at least as blatant in the same regard? But didn't get reviewed? Absolutely.

I know most fans say this about their team and I’ve always scoffed when flames fans have said it in the past. But over the past 5 years or so I’ve increasingly become convinced that there is an unconscious bias against the Flames and probably a few other teams as well.
