I would have to agree unless there are already several players who have declined.

Sock is a terrible choice (5-15 record this year) and is clearly only motivated by the need to have another American in the draw to boost sales. It makes no sense at all from a competition perspective to pass over Nishikori, Chung or Raonic.

I guess Johnny Mac's strategy is to try to win the doubles matches because I don't think Sock will play any singles in Chicago.

Reading that Alex Zverev has brought Ivan Lendl onto his team as a coach/consultant just prior to the US Open.

In an all Aussie qualifying match for the US Open, Thanasi Kokkinakis has sent Bernard Tomic packing with a 3-6 6-0 6-3 match win.

there needs to be a decent doubles player.

Who's playing doubles for Europe?

I think 3-4 players on the roster are capable of playing doubles without Sock. Anderson and Schwartzman have both played a few matches this year and are more than capable of teaming up with Isner.

Team Europe doesn't have a traditional doubles guy on their roster at all.

Can't wait for Polansky to lose again and still make the draw.

If he does it at this tournament, it would be a Lucky Loser Calendar Slam.

No one will ever, ever do that again.

It will be a tough match as Polansky will face American lefty Donald Young for a spot in the main draw.

US Open draw going on now.

Vasek & Shapo are in Nadals quarter while Djoker & Kyrgios are in Federers quarter.

Wawarinka plays Dimitrov in the first round, with the winner probably playing Raonic in the third round in the Del Potro quarter.

Cilic is in Zverevs quarter which looks to be weakest.

Nadal and Del Potro are in the top half while Federer and Zverev are in the bottom half. This has the makings of a terrific grand slam could be the best of the year and a perfect place for Nadal to win his 18th
