Or something like that.
To get super technical then, I believe the forfeited pick goes into the record books as "VOID" and the numbering stays the same as it would normally be. So, the Stanley Cup champ will pick the 31st player in the first round, but it will still be recorded as the 32nd pick.

If you look at last year's draft, Arizona forfeited the 49th overall pick and the Flames picked Kuznetsov with the next pick. Kuznetsov is officially the 50th overall pick of the draft.

Either way, let's just win the Cup and let the accountants worry about counting it.

One minute left in the game, up 4-1, pan camera to Flames bench, Sutter leaned right over Johnny and Lindy, actively coaching. Slap a cape on this man, he's becoming my hero.

Are we really going to hold a hot take after a hard loss to our biggest rival against a poster here? We've all said some dumb stuff. I would let it go.

I just can't get away from the fact that this team is 2-4-1 against Ottawa.

Even 4-2-1 and we'd be tied with the Habs now. What a piss off that they squandered all those points against a bottom feeder.

Hopefully they can overcome it.

I think he would have them fit and ready to compete. These guys have had a lot of lazy ingrained habits, now I think they will get benched if they are not keeping up!

You really nailed me. Feel better now? Nothing like pointing out a single comment borne out of anger and drinking in the heat of the moment.

This is boring.

Edit: BTW, at that point I was factually correct. Their point percentage under Sutter then was horrible compared to Ward. They didn't look very good on the ice either. But you do you, man. Keep grinding that axe.

Well lets not bring it up every game, as he has moved on!

Loved this shot. Good to see Johnny listening intently. Good to see the points roll in. Wont believe it's done till it's done and Flames have an x for clinching a playoff spot beside their name

None of the last 4(+) coaches would critique a thing in that circumstance, no question.

Sutter is counter intuitive, that's what sets him apart.

Gets on guys when they otherwise would be patting themselves on the back. Given our level of composure shown after we score a goal this season, not surprising.

I’m a little slow as you all know. Anyway still a massive ask to qualify for playoffs, I’m just happy they showed amazing effort the last couple games and that’s really all I ask for as a fan to be honest.

I'll celebrate the wins when they come, but I really hope they don't get many more. If we were to pick a calling card for this team over this core's reign, it'd be that they like to tease us with hints that they could be good while never actually being good...so I guess I can't complain about them doing what they always do, but that math is not good and it's frustrating to see them play some of their best hockey of the year in what is an almost entirely meaningless stretch of games.
