After todays game Dusty Isaacs has an ERA of 162.00.
He pitched 1/3 of an inning, gave up 4 hits, 7 runs, 6 earned, 2 walks. 1 wild pitch and 1 HR.
Thats amazing.

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded designated hitter Kendrys Morales to the Oakland Athletics, a source told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Came to post the same thing calculoso.
I am shocked. I felt that his contract was untradeable!
The contract was a mistake from the get go. Should have been EE but I don't need to re-hash that nightmare.
Good bye Kendrys.

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded designated hitter Kendrys Morales to the Oakland Athletics for infielder Jesus Lopez and international signing bonus pool space.

It's gonna be a tough season for the blue jays. I've only started following baseball actively over the last couple of years. Not sure what to expect in a season with no playoff aspirations.

Oakland sent minor-league infielder Jesus Lopez and international slot money to Toronto for Morales, 35, and the Blue Jays will be responsible for more than $10 million of the remaining $12 million owed Morales this season, according to a league source.

Sounds like Anthony Alford is being added to #BlueJays 25-man roster.

Who on the roster was Morales holding back from the DH spot?
I can see if he was playing a bunch of time at 1b and holding someone back there, but DH? Especially for the Jays to cover over 80% of his salary to play somewhere else.

It opens up the DH spot so the team can rotate position players through to give them time off from fielding. I'm sure Vladdy will DH from time to time.

With Alford being called up, I would guess that Teoscar Hernandez will see plenty of time in the DH spot. Moving Morales opens up a lot of roster versatility. Having McKinney playing 1B in spring training makes a lot more sense now as well.
Have to wonder how long Smoak will be sticking around, especially is Tellez keeps tearing the cover off the ball in AAA to start the year.

TORONTO – Injuries to Jonathan Davis and Dalton Pompey depleted the Blue Jays’ triple-A outfield depth and prompted a minor-league trade with the Cincinnati Reds, according to industry sources.
With Davis (ankle) and Pompey (concussion) sidelined, the Blue Jays have agreed to acquire outfielder/first baseman Jordan Patterson from the Reds pending a physical.

Nice to see them move Morales. Gives them a lot of options and versatility now.
Hopefully some of these young players are as good as everyone is hoping.

How much money are the Jays paying to not have players play for them? I am glad they have moved on from Morales, Martin and Tulowitzki but that has to be $50 or $60 mil for those players this year. Glad they got Alford up, he deserved it. Want to see Smoak and Pillar moved next.
Should be a fun year. Going to suck but will put up some offence.

If Smoak has a decent season he will be trade deadline fodder. Could fetch a b prospect.
You also do need some veteran presence and I think Smoak is a guy who would be well liked in the clubhouse.

Jeff Blair is saying that he seen Rowdy Tellez in Toronto today as well as Alford. I wonder if there is another trade coming? Maybe Pillar to SF? I like Pillar and he sells tickets but you can get the same production from Alford in CF with comparable defense, maybe better because Alford has better range.
C Jansen
1B Smoak
2B Gurriel Jr.
3B Drury (Guerrero Jr. In 2 weeks)
SS Galvis
LF McKinney
CF Alford
RF Grichuk
DH Hernandez

That or someone is about to hit the DL.
Pillar is a favorite of mine (albeit a frustrating one) but if the Jays can move him they should. He won't be a part of the next competitive Blue Jays team so his reps would be better served evaluating those who might.

Tellez has been named to the 25 man roster. Also about Alford being in Toronto:

Ross Atkins says they wanted to make sure they were covered with different possibilities, which is why Anthony Alford is here.
Rowdy Tellez is going to get the first chance to impress.
