I actually think Flames would've faired a little better in the Anaheim series with Iggy around.

No, but he does put them in the net. Something a lot of our players had difficulty doing in that series besides Monahan.

His +/- says otherwise.

I wish people would actually watch Iginla to see what kind of player he has turned into. He is everything we hate in players and would quickly become a whipping boy. He's moved on from Calgary, I wish Calgary would move on from him.

I look forward to Iginla signing a contract with the Flames.

But a one day contract to retire a Flame

He is not as bad as you paint him out to be. I watched a ton of his games this year thinking that it may be his last year. He is not what he was yes, but he could be effective in Calgary in the right role.

-30 for the season. Trended at -38 for the Kings. There is no role where Iginla doesn't hurt you. Get over it, he's a liability on the ice. There is not a single role where he helps this team out. Period.

That is your opinion, and you are welcome to it.

I disagree. Many others disagree as well. In the right situation, Iginla can and would help a team. Maybe he could help here, maybe it is somewhere else, but he has enough IQ, leadership abilities and toughness to find a supporting role somewhere.

Bring him back as a 7 minute a night power play specialist and goon? That would be a great role for him and kills two birds with one stone.

Do it!

I don't have a horse in this race, but I am looking at the right side and wondering where people think he would fit in. As it stands right now, the RWs are:

Frolik
Versteeg
Brouwer
Lazar
Hathaway

plus Ferland is the current incumbent on the top line, and Foo is the wildcard

I am going to predict that the top line is either Ferland or Foo. Frolik is written onto Backlund's line in pen. That leaves Versteeg, Brouwer, Lazar and Hathaway for the bottom two lines.

Where the hell would Iggy fit?

Ironically, what we really need is a LW

Foo's NHLe was higher than what Iggy posted last year.

I think his leadership abilities are greatly exaggerated around here,at least at the end of his time as a flame. The last thing I remember about iggys leadership was telling the media that what the coach wanted from him wasn't what the team needed. He was a great player and the face of the franchise, but towards the end it seemed to be more about what iginla wanted and less about what was best for the team

Looking at what the Flames targeted in free agency in Sharp I really think Iginla is someone they should be looking st as plan B.

They want a right shot that can take faceoffs which Iginla can do. They appear to want veteran leadership and Iginla has that in spades.

Iginla wants to win. I honestly think the current Flames team is likely the best roster he would have ever played on by far. With an opportunity on the right side and our depth up the middle guarantee Iggy a good opportunity.

For whatever reason both sides have moved on and it doesn't seem like a reunion is possible. Both the player and organization should know that fan expectation is low for the type of numbers Iggy would put up.

I will be disappointed if we sign Shane Doan and Iggy is still on the market

I agree that Iginla has leadership skills. And I will not get on board with those that trash him and site the country club, etc. All I care about is whether he would help make the team better.

BUT...

There seems to be some rumblings, some smoke, that he and Giordano are not on the same page. IF that is true (and I have no idea, and even feel bad mentioning it, but if...), then there is no way in hell that I would bring Iggy back.

You won't be disappointed. Flames have no interest in either.

I really think he ends up in Nashville, makes a lot of sense given their need for some more pop up front and how close they are to possibly winning a cup.
