Ok that makes more sense. Weird they call those two wide positions Wingback. The term wingback, is derived from the major focus being to defend, but also advance (say 66/33) Commonly, Wingbacks are the widest in a 5-3-2.
Now in that 3-4-3 formation you cited, they are utilizing a flat 4 midfield, and those would be right and left midfielders, where I agree that Davies could flourish (with a 10 and two 9's). The L & R, Mids would be 50/50 in attack, defend.

Ozy...I've played 3-4-3 at some pretty high levels of soccer, and never once has there been an expectation of the RCB/LCB to get up and down the pitch like you're eluding to. That's just not how that formation is played.
That's cool. I see the 3-4-3 as far more flexible given the right talent to move up and switch. I've seen it used before in my playing career myself, and seen it work.
Not if you admit you're wrong. Kidding, but like I said, I've never once seen a 3-4-3 played that way, and I don't think it would be a good formation for Davies to be utilized properly.
That's fine, I think otherwise. Who knows, perhaps there's another formation that will be utilized that isn't any of the one's mentioned here. Guess we'll see.
Ok I just have to say, I'm still high on positive emotions after the win over Mexico. I went to the game on Friday vs Costa Rica which was epic in itself, I can only imagine what being there on Tuesday would have been like.
There's something about this CANMNT, they seem to be evolving and getting better as the WCQ campaign progresses. Bit of a let down against Honduras at the start, nice recovery with a draw vs USA, then a nice beatdown against El Salvador.
Next came the epic draw at Azteca followed by that awesome 2nd half vs Panama. Bit of a letdown in Jamaica (but that's a real tough place to play no matter what) but at least got a draw on the road.
Then came the EDM games. Take away the final 5-7 mins from the MEX game, they dominated 90% of both those games imo.
Stoked for the next set of games in January.
On that note, I can say I've watched that Larin 2nd goal vs MEX over and over again. Crappy work days (working from home) combined with feeling tired/sluggish and a little sick after 2 straight nights at a casino volunteering to fundraise for my kids school... watching that goal replay (including of course the Adekugbe jump into the snowbank, Larin's face yelling 'YEAH') lifts me up.
It does make me wonder, has there ever been a greater moment at Commonwealth Stadium in it's history? Wonder how this stacks up vs some Grey Cups or... perhaps the Commonwealth Games Wouldn't mind a TSN top 10 on this topic

Really, a top 4.
Pee Wee, 30 years ago this week to send the Stamps to the first GC in 29 years since 1972.
Vic Rauter with the call of Eddie Berdusco.
Go to the 55:49 mark.
I've called this the greatest regular season win in the history of the Stamps. 20 years ago. The terribly biased announcers of Wells and Suitor slopping over the Esks, only for them to lose that lead to the 2 point convert. And, this was the year the Stamps won the GC with a losing record, so they needed this win to sneak into the playoffs and win it all.

Ah, now I'm getting flashbacks of the mid to late 90's Stampeders, back when Commonwealth had real grass. I recall a Flutie to Pitts touchdown, pretty awesome IIRC.
What is an unbiased view of how Canada rates? Will they be chewed up and spat out by traditional football powers or are they a legitimate (though still lower tier) team?
FIFA doesn't update the rankings in real-time, but if they did, we'd be 40th. Between Hungary and Norway.
