Interesting, that they could do this. I expect there will be some more players who will do the wait and see method if they have underlying conditions like Domi (type 1 Diabetes).
Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL
The Canadiens and Max Domi have agreed to wait 7-to-10 days before deciding if the forward will join the team for Phase 3.

Wonder if Domi feels like if he can go straight into bubble and no out breaks by team, then he will play?

They might probably be okay holding a spot in the 30 for him, and losing that spot if the decision is made not to play.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I'd bet if you held their feet to the fire, Montreal would be fine with anything that might hurt their chances in the play in. Why take any risks with player health when you know you aren't in a spot to win it all but could very well grab 1OA?

Especially when 1OA is going to be a french speaking superstar.
If I was Treliving and won 1OA, I wouldn't be able to wait and see how much Bergevin might give to move from #9 to #1.

Haha, maybe Price @ 50% retained.
But no, I was thinking more about the futures you might be able to get tacked on, not their overpaid 32 year old goalie.

I am also going to be including players who aren’t included in the team specific training camp roster and are expected to miss the Playoffs due to injury (Bryan Little, Pateryn, Patrick etc)

Yeah my guess is Montreal would easily be willing to part with something like #9, some combination of Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Caufield etc, and I'd want them to throw in Gallagher too.

What does "unfit to play" mean? I assume this term covers COVID symptoms?

In order to protect privacy of the players the teams cannot report when players have COVID or any other injury. If I’m not mistaken the teams can’t even announce an injury the NHL is controlling that. I believe it’s so that when they say unable to play it could mean COVID or it could mean anything. Thus giving players who may be positive some anonymity.

Yes it sounds like the specific terminology "unfit to play" means a positive covid test.
Quote:
Exhibit 25-A
In the event a Player is diagnosed with a confirmed positive finding for COVID-19 (or has a resulting and/or related illness), the Club Physician shall issue an Exhibit 25-A designating the Player as “unfit to play”, the Player shall be deemed to have sustained an illness arising out of the course of his employment as a hockey player for such period as he may be removed from training, practice or play, and his condition shall be treated as a hockey related injury for all purposes under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, unless it is established, based on the facts at issue, that the Player contracted COVID-19 or the resulting or related illness outside the course of his employment as a hockey player.

Correct. The NHL gave direction to use that term according to my Google powers.

Even if it is Covid, he can still play, provided that he waits ten days, is symptom free, and tests negative after that. Is that how it works? Do I have it right?

I believe so. Matthews, who was reported to have tested positive, is at the Leafs training camp skating today.
