CMLC has actually been involved in some pretty amazing projects in the City and I can’t point to any major fails by them.

Would the lack of activity or traction in certain areas of the city not fall at their feet as well?

The "other" party could be Stampede (new CEO and a VP were at the in-camera meeting). Presumably they at least maintained their existing access/benefits from the Saddledome, but there could be some additional carrots to get them more involved financially.

Examples? Those things don't happen overnight.
Why should we trust the guys who brought us PortPass and have an objectively terrible track record in their core business (on-ice performance)?

Three or four decades is more than overnight.

Hot take. Yeah, we should just partner with the Stampede Board, because they have a long history of success. Should marry your own offspring too, right?

CMLC has only been around since 2007, and in place to execute the Rivers District CRP.

Yes, good point, but it's still a child organization of the City. Do they get a pass for 15 years of inactivity?

What in the hell are you going on about?
From my office window I can see like 6 of CMLC's current projects.

How do you explain Victoria Park and the west village? These have been eyesores for decades and have long been considered priority areas for development, but nothing of consequence has happened in either, even though there has been interest to get projects going there.

Sometimes I like to continue to hammer on debunked points when I'm wrong too.

CMLC was created to move forward with the East Village. Only over the past five years or so has their scope increased to West Village and Vic Park.
You're missing the mark here.

Thank you. That's a fair response. So give them time is the answer. Priorities are elsewhere.

I can't imagine there are any plans for WV, because of the massive contamination costs and development there would cannibalize development and CRL's elsewhere. It's pretty low priority for the city, so no reason for CMLC to be blamed for it. Developing it now would hurt the arena plan, not help it.
Victoria Park, well that has obviously been waiting on a certain event centre plan to be made...

I won't belabour the point with CMLC, but I'll challenge you to point out 'failure(s)' of Stampede?
There are plenty of valid reasons to be cynical about it, but on the whole it's actually a pretty impressive and special thing.
Vic Park is massively improved from the crackhouse days.
Arriva
Guardian x2
Keynote x3
Vetro
Sasso
Alura
Nuero
= 10 big condo towers and a bunch of smaller buildings and street level commercial, etc. Of course, Stampede wasn't the developer, but it's hard to argue they didn't play a big role in cleaning up the area and making it more attractive for development.
As for Stampede itself, in the last ~15 years or so it's only managed to build:
BMO Halls D-F
Stampede Casino
Western Event Centre
Performing Arts Studio
An award winning bridge
New operations building
Enmax Park
BMO/Corral expansion
17th Ave level crossing
Admittedly those aren't all homeruns, but they at least "know a thing or two about" building.

I thought the City was (still) suing Domtar for the reclamation costs? Am I wrong? Was this stopped?
