Fairly easy talks. Was important to get some cap flexibility and this deal clears a bunch for us. We also like the high DF of Thompson.

For us, we like the potential for Brassard's ratings to jump next year if he puts up a 40-point season this year. Anisimov and Brassard could both be factors in our top-nine in 2020-21.

This move was made to bolster the D core while also adding some more Cheese space which will hopefully facilitate some more deals involving Stepan, Granlund and/or Tanev. Good to add a 2nd rd pick here as we continue to re-tool.

Paul Stastny, Jeff Carter, and Sheldon Dries to Anaheim for Ryan Getzlaf, Lawson Crouse, and a third-round pick

We were a little concerned about Stastny being an expiring contract and we feel confident that Getzlaf will rerate very nicely. Big fan of Crouse too.

For Anaheim we wanted the Upgrade on the wing from Crouse to Carter. I also felt that Getzlaf is starting to decline and his 6.5 M contract could start to be an issue.

We were a little concerned about Reaves' status as a rental and we were happy to add Frolik, who we feel will be a legitimate option for our middle-six.

Johnny Boychuk and Ryan Callahan to Colorado for Victor Rask, a 3rd, and 2 4ths

Again, getting value for a couple expiring contracts we weren’t planning on keeping around. We like Rask’s upside a lot and he’s cheap. He’s having a good bounce back year on Minnesota and should be a fixture on our PK next year.

Boychuk was fine for us and I'm sure he'll be fine for Colorado

We have acquired forwards Zack Smith and Cedric Paquette from Carolina in exchange for prospect Dmitry Voronkov and a third-round pick

We felt we needed to greatly improve our team defense and these two players are among the best defensive forwards in the CPHL

We needed a big shakeup, Stepan is a good scorer

Simple deal to look towards next year. Both players we got are much younger, although we take a ratings hit in a season that is lost for us. I like the DF by Crouse and will now have a #1 goalie next year as we did not have much interest in re-signing Jones.

Cates and Hall are both ripping up the NCAA and we're thrilled to acquire them. Got a couple other decent offers but we like the WJC pedigree of these players. Hall in particular - 8 goals in 10 games with Yale as a sophomore!
