I think they should just change to Knights if they have to change

They can't, it's the whole reason for the Golden.

I don't think it will in this case. Anyhow Golden Knight's is a terrible name for that team anyhow, good chance to change it to something more fitting.

Why can't they? If we can have Kings and Royals, Rangers, why can't they do Knights?

London (OHL) owns the trademark for a hockey team with the name Knights.

Pay whatever it takes for London to let you use Knights, you already paid a ton for the team, plus they're an overwhelming success. I can't imagine London would necessarily turn down a truckload of cash.

Yes, I think that is more likely to be a solution if they want to use Knights than getting the army to roll over on this issue.

It would just be a huge disaster to change the team name to anything other than at the bare minimum "something" Knights, preferably just plain Knights though.
When your city has got right behind your team, and being a brand new hockey market, you don't want to lose these new fans attention with a drastic name change so quickly. Especially with another major league sport coming to the city soon.

Yeah, if the army wins I could see them just saying "change it, we have all the money we need." Whereas London''s owners probably would take a big cheque smiling.

It'd have to be a pretty big cheque. The London Knights brand is absolutely massive. No one else in North American hockey outside of the NHL comes close. I strongly doubt they'd be willing to cede that ground, because if you have an NHL team with the same name, it'll take ten years' tops before "Knights Hockey" causes everyone, even in Ontario, to think about Vegas first and London second.

Vegas' owner already said that acquiring the rights from London is not economically feasible. While London claims there weren't any formal talks over the rights, I think they gave him a rough idea of what it would cost and he didn't like it.

That’s interesting. How much could it be? I guess because they are both hockey related but not many are familiar with London Knights outside of Canada. Both Rutgers and now UCF would be better known to US fans.

I dont know, the US Army is effectively a bottomless pit of money, how much could you realistically offer to throw their way for them to consider it worth it?

Because it is the army and they tend to be prideful and stubborn about these things. They don't need a windfall from the LV franchise and they certainly won't choose money over tradition. If it was about dollars they would have worked on something behind closed doors already.

I actually think Kitchener Rangers is a bigger household name and they do just fine sharing a name with an NHL club.
London is obviously a huge junior club, but they'll get by just fine as well. Especially if Vegas sends them a blank check.
