I agree. I hate giving up on this guy because I like him a lot but he is not showing when given a chance. I really think he needs to get his confidence back and starts playing the way he was while in Edmonton's WHL team. I think he'll get that confidence back he starts playing in the AHL a lot more. I still feel this guy can bounce back. Freddie Hamilton is the same way. They can play the energy line but no offensive threat in the NHL.

I am thinking Flames should call up Mangiapanne and reunite him with Janko and Hathaway. Then move Bennett with Backlund and Tkachuk line. I wouldn't want the Flames to put him on the 4th line. If they are thinking of calling him someone to play in the 4th line only then I guess Klimchuk is the guy.

Good. Looking forward to his return, playing great then add another solid player to the lineup always helps

I suspect he was not on solid food for a while so he's going to need a bunch of conditioning.

I think that I read somewhere that his jaw is not wired, so he has been able to consume semi-solid foods.
If so, he may be back to game shape sooner than we think.

Edit:
Just watched an interview, apparently he was only on liquids for a few days.

Treliving was on Primetime Sports today and said after the All-star break for re-evaluation, and maybe early February for return

Sounds like Frolik is participating in practice with the yellow no-contact on. Maybe another couple weeks and then he should be back is my guess.

#Flames youngsters/call-ups are on ice for a pre-practice skills development session. Also spotted, #Flames RW Michael Frolik in a no-contact jersey as he recovers from broken jaw.

Looks like #Flames RW Michael Frolik (broken jaw) will participate in practice this morning at the Saddledome.

With how well Brouwer has played on the 2nd line, I’d love to see a Mangiapane - Lazar - Frolik 4th line.

I disagree. Spread out the depth and talent.

Backlund and Tkachuk can support Brouwer if Brouwer slips with his play.

I disagree. I'd rather see Frolik on the ice for 20 mins a night rather then 8 minutes a night. And Brouwer can take the short shift, heavy body role.

Your top players can play more minutes if you play them together.

You can double or multi shift Frolik later in the game back into the top 6.

This might make sense if all lines got the same amount of ice time, and there was no such thing as matchups and quality of competition. But they don't and there is.

Backlund's line plays against the other teams' top line. And usually wins the battle. That gives the Flames a huge advantage, and sets things up well for the 1st and 3rd lines.

Eroding that advantage makes no sense. Especially when the reward is a slightly better 4th line.

Some of you really under rate who Frolic is if you're putting him on the fourth line. Quick question, isn't Frolic known for being able to play all three forward positions? If so just move Frolic to LW, and Chucky to the Jankowskie line.

These guys are putting up the toughest minutes against the highest competition, not a situation you want Brouwer in long-term even if he is holding his own at the moment. Remember the "Backlund effect"? Colborne, Bouma, Jones... they've all enjoyed it, and Brouwer is no exception.

He can be the energy hitter on the 4th line - when he's going and confident he's great in that role.
