Quite the explosion for Mackinnon.
He's already eclipsed his point totals from the last 3 seasons, and is only a few points from passing his career high set in his rookie season. Still 38 games left too.

Officially ahead of the Kings in the standings now with them having no games in hand left.
Nice to see them imploding. 5 losses in a row.

Still in awe of the Golden Knights. What does anyone organization like the Flames have to say about this? All that engineering and management of top teams around the league and the GK's come in and whoop Tampa. Second in the league.

The Bruins simply continue to steam roll over most of the opposition, they haven't lost a game in reg time for 15 games! Bergeron with the hat trick.
The Rangers squeak by the Sabres 4-3 as Rick Nash scored twice (and 1 assist) including the GWG with 3:58 left in reg time.
The Penguins beat the Kings who have now lost 5 straight games. Hornqvist scored 2 goals and the Penguins 3rd string goalie, DeSmith, gets the win making 28 saves.
The Avs have won 8 straight games and 7 of them with Bernier in net? Wow. Bernier faced 48 shots as the Sharks almost completed the comeback being down 4-0. Nieto scored to secure the Avs 5-3 win. San Jose had 38 shots in the last 2 periods.
The Senators are brutal as the Blues score 3 goals in the 2nd period and had 19 shots on to a 4-1 win.
The Knights just keep on winning as they beat the Lightning 4-1 and are now just 2 points back of Tampa Bay for 1st place overall.

Good to see another choke job by the Leafs, all's well in Canada outside of Ontario. Still they get a point and are safely in a playoff position.

Yep, it's good. The minor downer would be the Predators and Knights getting wins.

The entire team is comprised of second/third line players and second-pairing defensemen. Unlike every other team in the league the Knights have mid-level talent distributed throughout the lineup. So, while their top line is not on the same level as a lot of other teams, their lower lines are MUCH better. They are also very well coached, and it looks like McPhee has done a masterful job of instilling a strong team culture throughout that carries over onto the ice.
Also, maybe the Flames broke TB the last time the rolled through town. They have not been great in their last two games.

I think that right there is the key to the Knights success. Most people looked at guys like Perron and Neal and maybe to an extent Fleury as temporary Knights players that would use the Knights as a stepping stone to a contender at the deadline, but with the knights success and the honest fun that they seem to be having it looks like these players probably have a stronger commitment to the franchise long term. TBQH snagging Derek might have been one of the biggest steals for the franchise.

People keep saying this but it isn't true. There are a few 2nd or 3rd liner types, like Neal, Smith, Perron, Marchessault, Eakin, but that's about it.
Karlsson's best season prior to this year was 25 points. He had 16 CAREER goals in 183 games prior to the 24 goals in 44 games he's posted this year.
Leipsic, Bellemare, Tuch, Haula, Lindberg, Carpenter, Carrier, Nosek were all either 4th liners, AHLers or journeymen.
This is not a team with 4 solid 2nd lines, like so many people keep trying to claim these days. This is a team with no 1st line, 2 2nd lines, and 2 4th lines.
They are winning because they work their asses off, play a strong aggressive system, and most importantly, they all believe in each other.
They are fun to watch, but they won't have another gear as we go down the stretch and into the playoffs. The question will be: how far can the confidence from a fun year carry them?

Patrice Bergeron is the first Bruin with 2 hat tricks in a season since Bill Guerin 16 years ago. That seems insane. Is it insane?

Given that he's also one of the best defensive forwards ever to play in the league, yes, it's fairly insane.

I meant no Bruins getting two hat tricks in a year.

So Brown only got a fine for that hit. I'm shocked. For real.

So is Bob McKenzie...
Bob McKenzie@TSNBobMcKenzie
When I saw Dustin Brown x-check, I had two immediate thoughts: 1. I’ll be curious if DoPS sees it as rising to level of SD; 2. If DoPS chooses to not suspend Brown, given Cogliano ruling, the flak will go viral. And it has. Bottom line: Brown should have been suspended. 🙄

Would've loved to hear the whining from Doughty if Brown got suspended
