Looks like fair odds for the Raps. My personal view is because of the new environment where all the players will be around one another pretty much 24-7 in tight quarters, the strongest personalities will pull away. I think it's intimidating being around the best of the best all the time and hearing the trash talk. It's a psychological game, where I think the loaded teams are going to have that psychological advantage that way, whereas under normal circumstances teams have their own teammates and a bubble to protect them. Being a short "season" would make for some interesting betting where you never know if a flyer becomes hot, now that the attrition factor is gone away.

I guess. I certainly wouldn't put the Rockets ahead of them though.

I wanted to get an old school Petrovic era Nets jersey. Any suggestions?

Not much to discuss these days with basketball but apparently a group including Irving don't want to play because of the current issues. No, not the coronavirus, but the BLM movement. I'm curious what Kyrie is actually doing for the movement, but frankly, given his past, I think he's just a guy who wants to do whatever he wants when he wants. He just doesn't feel like playing this season and is using that as an excuse. What a joke.

The worst part is that Irving is injured and probably wouldn't be ready to play anyway, at least at the start.

I really liked their red chevron uniforms. Look simple and sharp. Frankly though, I remember when the Jays went to the black uniforms for a few years and when going back to blue, they later said they hated that they were the BLUE Jays, but didn't have blue. With the Raps, where's the Raptors in the logo if they go to that? Anyway, it'll probably be a very subtle change off the existing red ones. I for one hope they go to red as purple was dated and ugly from the start.

I feel like this is picking up steam (or the players saying it are getting amplified). Between this, the MLB season in doubt, and all these new cases being reported, I wonder if this will start to turn the momentum away from an NHL return as well.

I think there's too much money at stake for turning back. The major sport that does this could set them up for years for grassroots following, so you better believe every sport wants it to happen. I just wonder how players will not get the virus? Specifically the revolving door of women these guys go through in any sport, increases their chances significantly. What if a star player got it? It completely changes the mental game for those around as they worry if they got it too. I see why each league is pushing for this, but I can't see it ending well, and cancelling a second time really makes the sport look unprofessional and unplanned when the second time around these things should be thought out.

Isn't that the point of the bubble?
How does anyone get it if nobody can go in or out of the quarantined area?

Depends on why they would cancel.
If they cancel because it simply isn't safe - I don't see that being unprofessional. I see that as being responsible.
Escalation of commitment is a real and dangerous thing. This is such a fluid situation I would hope that the leagues are constantly re-evaluating and have a framework for how they decide if they need to change plans or not.

I never heard the phrase escalation of commitment, but that's the best way to describe what I think we're seeing. If we're being responsible to the athletes and their families, this thing doesn't get off the ground for any of the team sports this year. It is fluid, and with that uncertainty where it can change by the week, there's almost a certainty that there will be a flareup by fall. So when I meant unprofessional, I meant amateur in planning. From my non-epidemiologist point of view with chances of a flare up being high, any league shouldn't take off unless finishing by August. The longer you go the higher chances of there being a cancellation via breakout. The shorter season you take, legitimacy of the championship comes into play. In hindsight, teams should be playing right now and ending by end of August. That's not happening anytime soon, so I can't see this taking off.

Look up stories with the olympics and athletes sneaking people from outside, in. Even with this virus issue, there's no way every guy is going to keep strangers away. Just no way.

We need a Rockets-Nuggets playoff series so we can see the Rockets midget ball lineup against the Nuggets Monstars lineup.

Dumb question, how can an entire league play out the remainder of the season in one location that has, what, 2-3 actual courts? I get staggered game times but still isn't that a bit of a stretch? I guess they must've found a way to make it work I don't know about. Same question goes for NHL too (ie. western conf teams all in one location with one rink)

Well it's not quite the entire league. It's 22 teams I believe. I don't know how many courts there are, but if you have three you could be looking at 9 games a day. That is a lot. And then you quickly get down to 16 teams.

IMO the NBA deserves some credit for their plan here. Zero positive tests so far in the bubble.

Agreed. Plus they've made it public that anyone getting caught skirting the quarantine rules will get punished, so maybe guys will hold off bringing in ladies from the outside, and they may be able to pull it off. MLB on the other hand, almost no chance they finish the season.
