I have a screenshot of one of the last text messages I got from my Dad before his passing last year, and it was about the military coup in Zimbabwe in 2017, as my Dad had spent time there for work in the past. His quote:
"Yes, I remember landing at the airport in Harare to refuel. Not only were we not allowed off the plane, but we couldn't take pictures out of the windows either. Armed soldiers ensured cameras remained in pockets. That was a long time ago, maybe 1991 or thereabouts, the early days of Mugabe dictatorship."
RIP Dad. RNIP Mugabe.
