icon57 March 20 Practice Notes. Looks like Bennett & Monahan back in vs OTT

Danny Austin @DannyAustin_9
If you're wondering whether a player is practising for the #Flames today, they probably are.
Full contingent out there this morning (Monahan, Neal, Bennett all in, as well as Hanifin)

I think one of the PP1 guys should go down to PP2. Need to spread the wealth, because we only have one PP unit that knows how to get in the zone while the other one struggles. It's frustrating to watch our PP time go down because PP2 can never get into the opposing team's zone and at least getting a face-off there.

I've been noticing Ryan carrying the puck into the zone rather successfully lately. I know he's not looked very good at times on the PP this season, but I wonder if maybe he should take the "Johnny role" on the second unit instead of how he's been used in the past.

Unleashing the ABC unit. Good to see Peters getting back to basics...

Interesting. I wonder if Czarnik's performance last game has given him another "play-in" game. Perhaps gives them another game to make sure Neal is at 100%.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Ryan-Neal
Hathaway-Jankowski-Czarnik

I would roll with those forward lines going into the playoffs.

Good depth. Makes me glad we kept our first. We will need it to restock the cupboards.

For now. I think we'll end up trading it on the draft floor. The Frolik/first for Zucker deal likely happens then.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Coach Peters says he’s optimistic Monahan and Bennett will play tomorrow.

Says Neal won’t play tomorrow vs. Ottawa. Might return Saturday in Vancouver. #Flames

I wouldn’t be at all opposed to holding Monahan out until the weekend.

I probably missed it, but originally Monahan was out due to illness. Still, or injury updated?

In the game thread from yesterday, it was posted that his status changed from illness to an upper body injury.

It depends on if the rumor that Zucker's girlfriend/wife has a kid with someone else and can't leave the country is why the deal never went through is true or not.

I thought the paper work was just late?

That sounds like a tough situation but I don’t see how that would veto a trade

Frolik is quietly having a decent year. He would be on pace for 46 points over 82 games. That pretty much ties or beats his best seasons over his career. Not bad for a 31 year old player not getting regular top 6 ice time. I know the stuff his agent was saying suggested that Frolik was unhappy about his usage, but I am glad we kept him. He is like a Martin Gelinas kind of player. Consistent work ethic and can play up and down the line-up and contribute.

Zucker's career output and his output this season is very similar to Frolik's. The plus is that he is is 4 years younger and signed. But for this season, going into the playoffs, I don't see Zucker as an upgrade worth adding a 1st rounder for (even a late first rounder).

That's just one of the rumors that I've read on here. I think it was posted on Twitter by a hockey insider.
