Very interested in seeing the return. Won't lie as a Flames fan, I feel somewhat relieved. Not sour grapes.

Brannstrom going to Ottawa means that Valimaki would have absolutely had to be part of the price

If it is Glass going the only equivalent from the Flames is Valimaki
Basically I can imagine it came down to which team was going to cough up that prospect
Valimaki from the Flames
Glass from Vegas
Vesalainen from the Jets

Vegas blinked.

Oof. That's essentially Valimaki, although Vali has proven slightly more at this stage.

Glad we have Valimaki still.

Ugh... was hoping he would have be traded out of our division if we didn't get him. Lets hope Vegas and SJ match up in the first round of the playoffs and have a long, physical 7 game series.

Brannstrom makes sense. Picked one spot ahead of Valimaki in 2017.

Bet Calgary would have acquired Stone if the Flames gave up Valimaki.

So, ask yourself: Valimaki for years to come, or Mark Stone tightening up our cap even more?

We still have to re-sign Tkachuk, so I think it was a good move for the Flames to not give up on an ELC defender that already plays like an NHLer.

How about that.

I have been through enough trade deadlines to know that the headline deals are almost never the ones that make the biggest splash in May or June.

Given the return, I feel good about the Flames staying out of this.

Wow. Bad day for the flames. Nashville scoring granlund is bad too.

Pretty disappointed and hope that I get proven wrong, but I think standing pat while our competition scores difference makers is going to see us getting smacked down in the playoffs.
