Good timing resurrecting this thread Bigtime.
Sunnyside greenhouse has essentially been demolished now, there is very little left standing on the old site and it appears that will be gone quickly. Also gone/demolished are many of the houses on the two streets just south of the old tree lot portion of the greenhouse. This has all happened in the past couple of weeks.

'Tallest residential tower in the city' proposed for Beltline site near Elbow River
https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...ar-elbow-river
It would be nice to see that parcel used for something interesting. Couldn't imaging actually living there though with all the traffic.

What's going on, or not going on at Telus Sky? It seems like the top few floors have been sitting unfinished for a long time.

That site been in the rumour mill for several years of the developer wanting to build something massive there. Finally they have an official proposal.
Hopefully it goes through. Nice to see tall developments in this city although the economy is hurting.

I think it's the muster point bunker for all of Calgary when there's a nuclear war imminent.

The podium looks awful. Did some digging and it's actually like a 9 story parkade?

Based on the article I think the parkade is the structure with the wood facade in Tables post. Supposed to be an above ground parkade with a track/green roof. Not sure why they wouldn't continue the design throughout the whole podium.

Strange massing too. Some of the units are really stuffed into a dark 45 degree corner between the two westernmost towers. And then instead of an active edge beside the river it's got a cave on stilts.

The whole thing is parkade. You can see cars through all of the windows.
Luckily they’re only building the east third of the podium and tallest tower in the first phase.
The part you’re seeing as wood is just a metal panelling like the grey sections and same material Cidex is using on the West Village towers on 9th ave.

Just a fun tidbit, the Green Line LRT Request for Pre-Qualifications (RFPQ) came out today - it's called the Shepard Phase. This RFPQ is for the stretch of the 4th Street station through Inglewood/Ramsay to 126th Avenue Southeast.
From APC:
The Project is the first phase of the Green Line Light Rail Transit Project and comprises an approximate 16km long low-floor LRT line extending from the east of the proposed 4th Street station through Inglewood/Ramsay to 126th Avenue Southeast (the Shepard Phase”). It will include a combination of approximately 1 km of elevated guideway and 15km of at-grade sections as well as a maintenance and storage facility (the “Maintenance and Storage Facility” or “MSF”). Other key structures include 10 stations (two elevated stations, and eight at-grade stations), numerous bridges, three park-and-ride facilities with a total of approximately 1900 parking stalls. The estimated cost of the Shepard Phase is estimated to be $1.2 billion. (“Project Cost”)
Again, just some fun info for those fans of city building and development. The time has finally arrived for this hog, HERE WE GO...

What's the actual deal with the delay? Did someone run out of money? Does anyone know when the actual opening date was supposed to be?

I had a facebook memory from the day it was officially unveiled a month or so back, I think back then I posted completion was targeted for 2017. LOL.
I'm just glad that it did go up. I did notice the other day that the Telus logo came off the top of their old building, wonder if they are going to try and slap the logo up top on Sky somewhere? I hope not.

I bit of an update as to when this building will be finished. They are having all sorts of issues with the building envelope sealing properly on the 59th and 60th floors. The schedule now stands at floor 59 (Double) being finished December 2019 and the 60th floor (Triple) being done February 2020.

Arris in East Village (above the new Loblaws City Market) just put a crane up and looks like they are going forward with the first tower and the second. Took this shot the other day.
