Lemieux playoffs points/game: 1.61

Gretzky regular-season points/game: 1.92
Gretzky playoffs points/game: 1.84

I see a lot less of a drop-off with Gretzky, although neither player elevated their production in the playoffs.

It's really interesting to compare those numbers with the two biggest stars of today:

Crosby regular-season points/game: 1.29
Crosby playoffs points/game: 1.14

Ovechkin regular-season points/game: 1.12
Ovechkin playoffs points/game: 0.98

Other notables:

Jagr regular-season points/game: 1.11
Jagr playoffs points/game: 0.96

Sakic regular-season points/game: 1.19
Sakic playoffs points/game: 1.09

Howe regular-season points/game: 1.05
Howe playoffs points/game: 1.02

Dionne regular-season points/game: 1.31
Dionne playoffs points/game: 0.92

But the one I think really stands out is this:

Messier regular-season points/game: 1.07
Messier playoffs points/game: 1.25

For such a talented, big, player, Mackinnon is a big baby. Has a small tantrum for each offside and missed call.

Oh and Avs fans can suck it. First the flames suck chants... now booing Brent Burns? Who does that? I bet they'd boo Santa Claus and the Easter bunny too.

Who does that? Every fan base does that. Flames fans boo Phaneuf and Doughty. No different.

He plays with a ton of passion. It’s almost as if he actually cares.

I wish we had that problem.

Yeah, but because were all Flames' fans here and it's our team, it's okay for us to do it.

Lol, the “anti corsi” analysis. Let’s rank players by interview quality. Reminds me of the “ugly girlfriend” theory in Moneyball.

Meh. I've heard some very well spoken guys who didn't amount to much as leaders of their teams. Ference comes to mind - super smart but could he captain the OIlers and get them to listen? Nope. Subban is very bright and speaks really well, but he's never been a leader on his teams.

I've seen guys who couldn't speak with confidence who were good leaders as well. Sid was always pretty wooden.

Blatant trip on the Avs not called, play comes back the other way, hook, Sharks get called.

Frustrating to watch as a fan of the sport.

I was OK with it. Not sure how karlsson went down there, it was a tap on the shin, need more than that to get a 5 on 3 in the playoffs. Hooks on partial breakaways get called 99 times out of 100.

Didn't look like a tap on the shin to me. If that's a call every other time I don't care if it puts the Sharks on a 5-on-3. If it's a penalty, it's a penalty. That's what frustrates me.

And yes I know that call the other way was legit, I was more just commenting how there's a blatant missed call one way and a call the other..........can really change the game.

Having skill is one thing, playing with determination and a purpose is another.

He's really put it all together. Just a force out there.

Here’s an interesting article on Carey’s dad, the late Dr. Gerry Wilson. Interesting guy. He was apparently instrumental in getting many Swedes, including Kent Nilsson, to come to Canada.

Quite a family.

Colorado's game tonight is what I expected to see from the Flames when they were down 2-1 but I digress.
