Brown is a good player, but $2.1m is a lot for a guy they have been playing on the 4th line. They are so deep in the right side though, Brown would be a 2nd liner here.
Moving Kadri and Brown frees up around $6.5m and they have enough depth up front that it wouldn't effect their team much.
I don't see Brodie as a fit in Toronto though as Babcock is a stickler for lefty-righty pairs. I think they would have much more interest in Hamonic.

Fun for the other team you mean. Neal is on it so they are effectively shorthanded.

Kadri and Kapanen for Brodie and Jankowski would be too good for the Flames.
I don't think Brodie is the type of dman the Leafs are looking for.
Maybe Hamonic for Kadri?

Dont think they would do it for kadri alone
He has a ton of value, his contract is a steal and hes shown to be a 30 goal scorer with top 6 minutes

Keep Travis Hamonic.
I understand sometimes you have to trade quality for quality, but I think Hamonic is someone who makes the Flames better.

The Leafs have to trade out salary just to be able to re-sign their RFA's, I can't see them taking salary in return. If we want Kadri it will probably have to be something like picks and/or Dube or Kylington.

Kadri is a pipedream. They probably wouldn't do Bennett + brodie for him alone. We don't have the expendable assets to acquire him, maybe if brodie was RH, had a couple more years on his deal and he wasn't a gaffe machine.

Only Kasperi Kapanen from the Leafs. Anyone else I would want isn't leaving that team. I.e, Anderson, Matthews, Reilly.

Since we don't have the expendable DESIRABLE assets to get it done. Our junk for a 2C on a 4.5m deal? That's pretty much all I see here being suggested. Jankowski? Probably worth a 4th. Brodie? Maybe a late 1st plus a meh prospect. Adding these guys together does nothing for Toronto. "Hey guys want a 4C and a 4D (on an expiring deal) for your quality player?" It's laughable. Maybe bennett++ gets it done but even then why bother from Toronto's POV? They want a RH D (not a LH D who is a worse version of Gardiner) and Jankowski does literally nothing for them.
What do you think Toronto would ask? Too much from our POV IMO... hence it's a pipe dream.

Lol. He was a 3C for Toronto and he had an off year. It happens. Do you not realize that Kadri's body of work includes more than last season? Or were you just being obtuse?

I think that you can only take broad ideas from the TSN list, and for Toronto it's going to be that they have no choice but to shed salary. They are not going to be negociating from a position of power, but they are also not going to consider moving any of their 'big 3'.

If getting a 40-50 point 2 or 3C is a "pipe dream" for you, have at it lol.

I think you are getting caught up in semantics. How's this: I think there is an extremely low chance the Calgary Flames acquire Nazem Kadri. The two teams do not make good trade partners. I could see them wanting Hamonic possibly but we would have to add IMO. And we can't afford to lose him, it would be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Brodie is under valued here. He is a 30+ point top 4 d in the league. THEY do not grow on trees either. He is close to top 60 (65 ish) in points per game this season. Top 50 in total points. For D.
I could see close to a 1st and a 2nd or equivalent in return.
I think a middle six fw such as Kadri or Kapanen is very doable on a 1 for 1.
Take into consideration cap hits you may even get the better play as D is valued more, as far as I can tell.

An average top 4 D with warts on an expiring contract isn't returning young cost controlled players like Kapanen or a 2C with term on a good deal. Calling kadri a middle 6 player is a little disingenuous. Most teams he would be a 2C (he's better than backlund imo). He's only 3C in TO because of depth. I think kadri is the guy getting underrated around here. One down year and he's worth brodie? Who in the last 3 years has looked like trash with the exception of this past year where he was average.
