Can you work "Edmonton is No Good" into one of your broadcasts?
It would mean a lot.
Like after beating them say "The C of Red rises! Ha Ha Stupid Oilers! Edmonton is No Good!"

Maher got widely mocked in 2004 when the Flames won a series with a way over the top version. It got played everywhere. He seemed to take it as a positive that it was getting a lot of attention.
For me it was just a catchphrase he put in that you knew was coming for a win, or, say Iggy's 500th.

So you can't listen when you're sleepy? Jesus, you shouldn't drive either.

He was aware of that catch phrases potential to be mocked. Peter was a professional and tried hard to save it for only special moments. He's human and let emotions take over in that specific call in 2004 and it was epic!

I do occasionally. My preferred viewing method for TV is "record, avoid the score, catch up by skipping through commercials and intermissions". Can get a game done in 1.5 hours. But if I'm oot and aboot in the car with no wife or kid with me, I do enjoy a bit of live radio play-by-play.
I have even timed a solo drive to Edmonton, for example, so I could listen along. It passes the time quite nicely, especially when you don't want music or podcasts at that moment. I wouldn't plan my day around it, but if I'm going anyway and can adjust things by an hour or so, I will.
Pro tip: if you're in your car, instead of listening to the flat sound of AM radio, use TuneIn or a comparable radio app (even Sportsnet's own). The audio quality is higher, and you can hear more sticks and pucks and skates. I find the those sounds nice.

Compliment?
It was pretty clear sarcasm and references the South Park episode about Caitlyn Jenner where people are afraid to criticize her. It's PuckSlap trolling. I'm not the type to scream 'sexist' whenever a woman is criticized, I've never been a fan of Cassie for example, but Puckslap's soapbox about being one of the few brave enough actually to say so makes it pretty clear it's more than that

The first time he did it, I imagine it was natural. It was well before 2004, maybe 1986? I recall Norm Edwards relaying it on the radio over and over again, tongue in cheek.

I thought Maher was fairly judicious with Yeah Baby. The Leafs guy on the other hand throws around Holy Mackinaw at every opportunity.

I took it as a compliment. Sorry that all of us are not South Park dorks doing a deep dive.
But what does the majority say? Is the majority aware of South Park references?
To compare her acumen in anyway to Cassie insults Cassie. Cassie paid her dues and got her reps in broadcasting for a lot longer.
Soapbox? Really? Pointing out what is obvious is not a soap box.
When I read what was written… I understood that what was conveyed was she is barely competent as broadcaster and being female is a bonus on her resume for reasons that have nothing to do with her broadcasting delivery and ability. Maybe it’s market appear, wider audience etc. etc.
She has a voice suited to singing the national anthem as much as broadcasting hockey.
Sorry, but not everyone is great and amazing at everything they attempt.
Does it mean she doesn’t have some interesting takes or insight? No.
What’s the cliche people use for great orators?
“I would pay to hear them read the phone book.”
As an orator she is the inverse.

Wouldn't recognize a South Park reference for the life of me. I think I grew out of that show in my teens.
It's interesting to think about dads with adult children still being avid fans of a show that did a poop musical.
Cool dads do exist!

To keep it in the festive mood...
Now that we have that out of the way, your assessment of South Park is weak and outdated.

Even without the reference it's pretty clear sarcasm based on his other posts
I'm not comparing anyone to anyone, just saying that I believe you can be critical of a female sportscaster without it being sexist, like I have been with Cassie. I brought it up because I think with puckslaps tone it's pretty clear that his issues with Mikkelson are deeper than just thinking she does a bad job
Nothing to say with the rest of your post since I'm not here to debate Mikkelson, just wanted to comment on that one post
Oh and South Park is awesome
