I don’t like complaining about refs. But that reffing wasn’t good. If you call the stuff like the early soft interference against Calgary, you need to call holding done on Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Mangiapane and Dube later.

Officiating has been crap all season. I still don't understand how the Flames are the most penalized teams in the league. Sure there's been a lack of discipline at times but this is a small team that doesn't really play that dirty. It seems they get a lot of soft calls against that aren't being called against them. I also thought the hit on Lucic against the boards in the first was clearly boarding, but wasn’t called because he got right back on his feet.

It was good to see Talbot keep battling after a rough start. Team is still a bit off, but some guys are shaking off the rust. Dube certainly is looking right at home. Similar to how Mangiapane looked better in his second look in the NHL and got in the groove it's looking like a similar thing with Dube. But I do see Dube as having a higher ceiling.

In fairness, the calls on the Dube trip and Lucic hook were phantom. One handed touch from the Kings player on Lucic, Dube fell on his own before the Kings player fell on top of him.

The reffing is bad league-wide. Agreed with the poster above, we need a whole new crop of refs.

The call when Dube tripped wasn’t against the defender that fell on him, it was against the guy in the corner that stuck his stick out and tripped him. It was actually a good Pick-Up by the official in that case.

Enjoyable, if sometimes frustrating, game. Loved the jam and impressed by the energy from all lines. Boys got a bit nervous bringing it home, but managed anyway. Good to see.

Loved the After Hours segments - especially Geoff Ward. I think the Flames are going to do very well under him. Seems impressive.

This is the second time that Coach Ward has talked about the players taking ownership of the team. If he’s got a “coaching style,” this is it. Ward seems to be all about empowering the players. Scott Oake raised a good point about striking a delicate balance between empowering and surrendering control to the players.

The Hitmen are playing today at 4pm which means the Fan Attics at the Dome are open. You don't need tickets, go to the one outside the doors on the west entrance. If they dont have it at that one, they will gladly grab one from another location in the Dome and bring it to you. Hope this helps.
