No to everything but Hamonic Jankowski, which is more lol

Wennberg was healthy scratched last night by CBJ. Wennberg was scratched often during the tail end of last season as well. He's been unseated by young Texier and has been moved to the wing recently before last night's game. He kind of reminds me of Bennett in that after a nice start to his career, the wheels inexplicably fell off.

I'm sure he could be traded for but I'd prefer Calgary stays away.

Funny I was thinking he would make a good target to trade for

I think it’s a risk but might be worth taking. Flames need to do there homework and pro scouting and watch Wennberg and see where his game is at. He actually put up 60 points with Torts but seems to have completely fallen off a cliff. His game is similar to Backs and Lindholm so you would think he’d do ok here.

If you acquire him though, you are taking a Hall signing in the Summer completely off the table as there won’t be enough cap space (might not be a bad thing depending on where you stand on hall).

Wennberg is really one of only two realistic centre options I see, the other being Turris. Both have bad contracts but at least Wennberg is younger and in his prime, but his resume is not as solid as Turris.

I'd like Wennberg. Man can he skate. We need faster players right? He is fast.

Definitely a player where a change of scenery is required.

Especially since Ward seems perfectly happy throwing guys like Backlund to the wing.

I'd rather land a Frolik replacement and build a stronger line up throughout than dump all our pennies into a Taylor Hall.

You get a rejuvenated Wenneberg into the fold and you can still go out and get another good FW. And sign defensemen in the offseason. These are the types of moves they should be looking at.

Out of all of the players who have managed to sign themselves to a nice contract, but now find themselves on the precipice of demotion, the only one that is at all intriguing is Galchenyuk. The fact that he might be the odd man out when the penguins are healthy means that his stock has never been lower.

Frolik for Galchenyuk would help spark the offense a bit. Even if Galchenyuk only puts up points on the PP, we can surely use some more scoring options on PP2.

Wenneberg wouldn’t be a bad option either. I find Galchenyuk more appealing though with him being a pending UFA.

Wennberg would've been fine to trade Neal for but otherwise I'm not sure I see a trade fit on the Flames. It's not like the Blue Jackets would take Lucic for him and I'm not sure Lucic for Wennberg would help the Flames all that much. Wennberg's deal is really bad and he brings fewer positive attributes than Lucic does.

I agree that Frolik for Galchenyuk would be a great move.

Pens fans sound like they just want picks and prospects. Galchenyuk is on the block because there’s no room for him, don’t think adding a guy like Frolik helps.

I’m sure they could get a 2nd or 3rd round pick from someone.

Frolik for galchenyuk would be interesting, but I am still hoping we just go for it with hall.

The other thing we should look to tidy up is that second d pair. Hamonic hasnt looked good this season and doesnt sound like hes coming back next year. Moving him out and bringing in a different tough rhd could go a long way. Not sure theres really anything good on the market though

The days of picks and prospects are over. No one is going to be able to absorb 4.9M on a total reclamation project.

I dunno. Galchenyuk is a pending UFA and if the Penguins are just trying to shed a body, I suspect they might be willing to retain salary.

I'd take a look at a former 30-goal scoring C/LW/RW who's just 26, especially one with a low term commitment, a $2.45 million cap hit at 50% retained, and 10 points in 21 games during a slump.

Yeah the time to bring Wennberg on board was before they signed Neal.

Even then, they could have probably offered the Jackets a 7th for Wennberg and they would have taken it. He's been in the doghouse for years.

That being said, I think he has a real chance of being an impact player still.

Sounds like Maloney is following the Sabres around.

John Vogl @BuffaloVogl
This one makes sense since it's right down road, but another Sabres game, another night with Calgary's Don Maloney on the seating chart. I can't imagine there's another exec who's seen Buffalo more (aside from the ones who live in WNY).

I am fine with a good trade to help the team, Hall does not fit that description

I'm still hoping they can pry Miller away from Buffalo for a bargain.

Top 4 right shot Dman in his prime signed for under $4 million for a few more years.

Can then hopefully flip Hamonic for picks or top 6 help.

Crazy idea, but what about spending hall like assets and trying to pry someone like jones out of Columbus? Our back end has not been producing offense and a marquee rhd might be more valuable than another forward, especially if dube can keep it up.

I think he would be significantly more expensive than what Hall will cost in the end.
I admittedly haven't watched a lot of hockey this season, but unless something drastic has happened since last season, I'm not sure there are a lot of defensemen league-wide that would be less available.
