It's kinda funny, Will Smith has been in two of the worst movies I've ever seen along side two of the ones I've really enjoyed. He's been on both ends of the spectrum.

Once I realized Leto's Joker was just a mash up of every early 90s Jim Carrey character, I couldn't take it anymore. I don't know if I even got far enough to see Will Smith.

Late to the Aquaman party. WB needs to stop doing 2 things that took me right out of the moment.

1) stop going from set piece to set piece. There were so few moments for the characters to breathe, that I honestly didn't care about any of them. Momoa's charisma carried it. Everyone was made two dimensional, because there was no sense that they lived in a real world. No one stumbled even once.

2) stop wasting good material for a couple of minutes of screen time. The whole Trench storyline, plus big mama trench monster, down the drain. And the self reflective 'no one respects fish boy' storyline is gone too, because you can't have a hero looking weak.

They did this with Superman a lot, too.

Other than that, pretty enjoyable popcorn flick. Just nothing left for a sequel.

Just saw Captin Marvel. Thought it was great, it’s not Citizen Kane by any means but i thought the action was good, and the story was interesting.

On a side note the bulb in the projector in #16 at Country Hills Landmark is in desperate need of replacement... it was really dark!

The review bombing of RT has started now that audience reviews have started. It already has more reviews than Infinity War got in its entire run.

I’m going on Sunday.

...I just saw Captain Marvel and I’d put it alongside Suicide Squad as a pretty awful piece of movie making.

That just wasn’t very good. Sloppy, decently enjoyable at times.

6/10.

I am genuinely surprised by how little I enjoyed that movie.

I’ve a seen the movies but none of the shows or comic books. I felt I was missing a lot of the jokes.

I didn’t understand the cat.

Wasn’t Jude Law Iron Man’s computer? Or am I misremembering that?

I was bored the first half, enjoyed the last quarter. Basically just a setup for whatever is next. No value as a stand alone.

Paul Bettany was Iron Man's computer, Jarvis, who became Vision.

Just got back as well, it wasn’t bad, obviously a set up for end game. The pacing was a little weird and overall it was a little generic.

If I was in charge of the marvel franchise, I would have done this in 2 movies, one set in her flashbacks that ends when She gets her powers, and then a second one that ties in her return to earth and connection to nick fury. Would have been able to develop her character better and fix the pacing in my opinion

Can’t wait for A4!

First Shazam reviews are very positive. Looks like a solid film, but more family orientated.

Yeah I really liked it, it had an old school Marvel vibe if there's such a thing. More like the original Iron Man and Captain America than the more recent ones. And more of a pure hope and heroism feel.

Doesn't crack the top five for me, but is still a good movie and worth seeing.

I'd probably put it somewhere below Ant Man and above Ant Man and the Wasp and Dr. Strange.

I enjoyed it. Even though it is standard Marvel/superhero fare, it felt different. The whole movie is her origin story, not just the first act. It also did a good job balancing real life problems like the ones you face every day and just the opposite, getting into far-out situations involving robots aliens and magic powers.

It wasn’t Larson’s best performance, with respect to the reviews saying she’s bland, but given the plot it made sense. I don’t think we got to see all there is to the Carol Danvers character. I think she’ll be more charismatic in Endgame. I won’t say more to avoid spoilers.

Spoiler!

Agree with the take that it had more of an old school vibe. Similar feeling to “The First Avenger” and “Iron Man” to me.

Also to top up on Cecil’s point above I’d take any review of Larson’s performance as being bland or robotic with grain of salt since IMO that’s means they missed the plot.

Spoiler!

Overall thought it was good but not great. Did what it needed to do in terms of introducing the character in advance of End Game, and gve is some good history on Fury too which I think helps tie the entire arc together.

Since he was also referencing Suicide Squad maybe it’s a combined score.

0/10 for SS and 6/10 for Captain Marvel.

On track for $150M this weekend, which would put it 7th, behind the Avengers films, Civil War, Black Panther, and Iron Man 3 (wut?), pretty decent.

Lol I wonder what Endgame will do.

Endgame is going to break the Box Office. They wont be able to collect money fast enough.

Saw Captain Marvel today.

I quite enjoyed it all the way through. Of the origin stories it was behind Black Panther and Iron man better than Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Strange, and Ant-Man.

A solid, fun self contained movie that also will work into endgame

Spoiler!
