Also to the OP, my air canada app tells me what happens at each airport, Security/customs/bags. I know as soon as the flights are booked

You clear US customs in Calgary and won’t have to deal with customs/immigration again until you land in Iceland. If one airline, your bags will be checked through.

Coming back though, if routing is the same, you will have to clear customs at DFW for the US and again in Calgary for Canada.

They used to sell the original Dr. Pepper in some kiosks at DFW but I haven’t seen it for a while there. Well, good luck with that.
