Thumbs up 118 pim...

...doled out in the 1st period of the Heat/Marlies game tonight.

Unreal. Wish I had seen that.

A single line brawl late seems to account for most of that. Carpentier and Chucko both kicked out for being in secondary fights. i'm guessing that's going to happen a lot, given how many two-game sets we play.

VDG is off to a good start... seven points in eight games.

I love the two game sets...

I've always wanted the NHL to go to a "series" type schedule similar to baseball...

Saves on travel and creates rivalrys...

i disagree about creating rivals. i think it does quite the opposite.

for instance, i was looking at abby's schedule in hopes of catching some road games in the midwest. but when i looked, they don't come to the midwest at all after xmas/new years. i realize they switched divisions, but its pretty tough to breed any sort of familiarity with teams when you don't see any of them the final 4 months of the season. i know some of that is poor scheduling, but spreading out the times you meet a team i think is better long term for the rivalry. sure when you do back to backs, it makes the 2nd game great, but then you don't see the team for a couple months, and all that is lost.

I went to that game last night and it was awesome! Very intense and there were sooo many fights. Surprisingly Watt and Murray didn't get kicked out last game, but Chucko did. The crowd really got into the game. That was really nice to see.
