And with the weather drastically different in last October and November vs July 6, which equalizes things more.
Huff and Dickenson know this.
Players can’t rush back and risk reinjury in late July, when a few more weeks rest and then fully ready for the fall is exponentially more important.
And, they haven’t yet lost tonight so let’s not start writing eulogies for the season.

I feel that opening night loss to a bad team in the Redblacks could be costly for them. This is not a season where they can likely afford to lose too many games to bad/mediocre teams as they are probably going to struggle to beat top teams and end up around .500 by the fall leaving small margins for error if they ever can put together even 3/4 of a healthy roster by then. If they lose more players tonight (which is highly likely) it's going to be as bleak a scenario as we have seen maybe ever as DD already has very little to work with. Adversity is good but this is getting a little ridiculous.

At best this club is average themselves when factoring in all the defections and injuries, and i think its a fools errand to expect anything else.
Even if Bo isn't gone for more than 6 weeks, he is only one player. The Oline is very much still a work in progress in both run and pass blocking. The amount of loss on defense of really good players is simply way to much to ask them to overcome in one off season. They have lost two DL starters for the season.
I expect DD will have the guys he does have around to be as good as they can be, but that will still pale in comparison to many other teams.
The season might of started as a re-tooling of things, but with what has occurred this is now a full rebuild.
I'm not even that annoyed by it either as we have had a decade+ of highly competitive and winning football in this city. Was never going to last forever.

Ill fully admit I haven't caught up with the rest of the CFL yet. Hamilton is good. Montreal and Toronto look and sound terrible. If Ottawa isn't great, that's 3 out of 4 in the East.
Ok, looks like the Bombers are coming out ok so far. Sask is under 500.and maybe the Esks are ok. Lions are 0 and 3.
So that's 5 teams that are mediocre out of 8. So 4 other teams that the Stamps have just a good a shot at winning over the next 16 games with Arbuckle, let alone Mitchell. Mitchell would be a boost once he gets back into swing of things and maybe push the Stamls into being a step above mediocre.
Point being, with the majority of the teams not great, door is wide open with 16 games to play, the majority against those mediocre teams.
There will be one spot in west up for grabs among 3 teams and one spot in east for 2 additional. So 2 of 5 mediocre teams get a playoff spot, and I'll take a rested and healthy Mitchell come early or mid August to be able to get one of those two spots by Oct.

Field in Regina was just ordered to be cleared because of lightning.
2 weeks in a row for some nasty weather there....see if this one is delayed. Not a great forecast either as they are under a severe Tstorm watch.

Wow, what a hit on Rainey on that kick-off return.

Oh man, why not kick the FG there, I get that you can tie the game with a TD and 2 point conversion, but there's still loads of time left.

Man, I was working on my playbook for the upcoming season, and on my short yardage stuff I took out any pistol formation. Bethel probably should have audibled out of that, or taken a time out because you could see the over load on the run side.
Just bad playcalling there, and bad awareness with the QB.
If I'm calling on 3rd and 2, and I'm in pistol, I'm going to either an outside screen or a short route dump, not run it into the teeth of the overload.

You still need to have a guy deep in the end zone in case Castillo misses because a rouge will still win the game.

Oh man, Rainey steps out of bounds and a rouge does indeed win the game.

That’s the best ending to a game I’ve seen in a long time. The rouge! Hahahahaha

Stamps may be bad this season, but that Argo squad from coaches to players are just a clown show.
Holy crap.

I love the cfl and I know rules are rules. But if I could change one thing it would be to eliminate the single point completely from the game. Reward for failure.
