Kerfoot seems like the ideal Connor Brown replacement.

I like Kadri but Barrie has flirted with 60 points from the backend each of the past two seasons, and they're retaining half his salary? Damn.

Imo Barrie is significantly better than Brodie.

Kerfoot much better than Bennett.

Calgary didn't have the pieces to do this deal.

Dubas did really well to get rid of his mistakes and parlay cap hell into another year of contention, Avs got the best player

Babcock would have preferred Barrie to Brodie, he likes his right side dmen to be right shots.

Throw in the cap retaining and the Flames wouldn't be able to compete with that package.

Barrie makes the leafs D softer and even less defensive.

Yep, essentially a one year rental for the leafs, given that Barrie is going to get paid in a year's time. Really gifted offensive guy who I personally think is questionable in his own end.

Might not have needed them if they didn't take Rosen too. He's a good D prospect, some of what the AVs gave up goes toward his value too

I'm just sour we missed out on Kadri, he's just what we needed

Kerfoot is also a really good option for the 3rd line. I think the Leafs definitely won this deal.

I'm not sure Kadri is the best player in this deal. Barrie had more points than him as a dman, he's not a liability defensively, and Kadri can put your team in trouble with meathead penalties

So back to hoping for Neal for Turris to improve the center depth?

Avs fans have been tossing Kerfoot into deals left right and center. I could see the Flames competitive offer being Hamonic (better fit for the Leafs needs than Barrie imo) Jankowski and a pick for the same return

the Avs just got harder to knock out in the 1st round with this trade imo.

they solidify their C position, they got a legit 2nd line center now with grit.

that's a solid lineup

Calvert - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Landeskog - Kadri - Donskoi
Burakovsky - Jost - Kamenev
Nieto - Wilson - Andrighetto

Cole - Makar
Johnson - Girard
Zadorov - Rosen

Why? An already thin team just got thinner.

This is great

Man oh man, the Leafs are going to be really good this year. Barrie was a force to be reckoned with during the playoffs and is one of the better PMD's in the game.
