Yup. I'm too hardcore to just give up on the team after being a fan for over 30 years.

It would be a long wait for another team, especially with Bettman at the top. He doesn't take kindly to things not going his way.

I don't know how I'd react because the reason I follow the team is that it's from Calgary. My Seattle brother in law would also be in a fix as he's a Canucks fan. Man is this ever a pile of garbage. I can now see why they built a new stage setup for touring bands.

If the NHL allowed a team like the Flames to move to Seattle before doing something about teams in struggling markets because a billionaire didn't get taxpayers to pay for his new arena then I'd have a lot of trouble supporting the league at all.

No way.

I'm an Expos fan and the Nationals can rot in hell.

Yes. Would actually prefer it. Seattle is much more accessible and is a way better city to spend time in. That would be an awesome road trip and wouldn't have to be hassled by customs anymore.

The name, the logo and eventually the players will all change. They would have almost no fans in Calgary after a year or two.

Definitely not. I'd start cheering for Vegas or Philadelphia if this team ever moved.

There's no chance I'd follow them, I'd definitely find a new team.

They should sell off the team to someone remotely likeable so that I don't have to feel awkward about cheering for my hometown team.

Even more cringey that they curl up in bed with Bettman when they don't get their way. That guy is a sleezeball and doesn't know Calgary nor what it needs.

I couldn't really say until it happened. Absolutely do not want them to move and I tell myself that I'd probably stop watching hockey but I feel emotionally invested in the team. I'll evaluate the situation again should it ever come to pass.

Right now, I am really excited for the coming season! Going to take it one game at a time and see where this team takes us! GFG!

As a Calgarian who moved out east to Toronto almost 20 years ago (wtf?!?) I would change my allegiances to an eastern time zone team.

That or deinvest myself from hockey and ideally make better use of the time

Maybe I'd cheer for the Calgary Coyotes, who would be the local franchise like 10 minutes later.

Seattle is more likely to be an expansion team. Room for one more in the Western Conference to balance things out. Teams may shift out east.

How many people in Quebec City follow the Avalanche today?

Best I can find so far:

Getting way ahead of things here. The Flames are still viable today and until the next lockout. In some way shape or form they can likely tread water for at least 10 more years in the Dome. Short term they won't be going anywhere. Today is a bad attempt to pressure politicians weeks before a municipal election

Enjoy today. The team should be as good in the next two years as they've been in any of the past 25.

I'd probably start following the Blue Jackets. Just because.
